Truth is, everyone has a birthday. And when you want to celebrate, this Session IPA is a gift to the senses. Made with 6 different hops, this bold brew is refreshing enough to enjoy again and again. Now, make a wish and blow out the candles. But don’t tell anyone, or your wish won’t come true

Alpine’s Hoppy Birthday was the punniest and most appropriate way to celebrate a hophead’s birthday -- that hophead being me. A damn great present to myself, as it turned out. Grassy, citrusy, and floral aromatics. Flavors of juicy grapefruit, bittersweet grass, oily cannabis, chewy melon, pinewood, and cracker-like malt. This 6-hop Session Ale was just what I needed to close out a great day and usher in another mediocre year on this rock.

Light citrusy drinkable and entirely forgettable. Yawn. I wish I could think of more to say.

Very nice and clean straw gold pour with two fingers of off white head. Nose is very nice, woody hops with citrus rind and bright green hop notes. Medium light bodied with a dry and woody finish. Nice citrusy note with some sweet tropical fruit. Very nice.

The beer pours clear golden yellow with a white head. The aroma has smooth citrus, tropical fruit, dank, dry caramel malt and some woodiness. It has a medium light body with a mild amount of carbonation. It starts with woodiness, citrus zest, dry crackery malt and a touch of grass. The finish has some herbs and dried grass. Really nice.

22 oz Green Flash bomber. This one pours a mostly clear golden orange color and topped by a thick layer of off white foam that slowly settles to a thin film. The aroma shows bright tropical and citrus fruits with notes of grapefruit, orange, mango, and melons along with hints of pine resin over a malt base of toasted bread and pale malts. The flavor follows with the citrus fruit of grapefruit and orange before going into the toasted bread and cracker malts with ample citrus and pine hop bitterness throughout. Medium bodied and easy drinking with good carbonation that leads to a bitter sweet finish. Solid session IPA that I can only imagine is even better when Alpine brews it.

Bottle: Nearly clear, orange-gold with a thin white head. BIG pine and grapefruit-peel aroma..... Orange malt, more pine and grapefruit taste. Strongly hopped and well carbonated. Loaded with aromas and flavour.....really nice.

Draft at Casino Inn in Alpine. One of only a few offerings I had not tried yet. Not a huge fan of the style but this one was okay.

Bottle poured into a snifter. Seeing "Green Flash" on the bottle seems wrong to me in some way. Best by April ’16. 3.0 A: Moderately hazed medium orange color. Lots of small particles in suspension. Less than one finger of off-white creamy/frothy head. Retention is below average, especially for the style and half a finger of irregular lacing is left. 3.25 S: Grapefruit and pine forward hoppiness. Orange citrus and light resiny dankness underneath. Biscuity and bready maltiness with note of caramel. Seems pretty run of the mill. 3.5 T: Mild bitterness. Again hops are primarily piney and grapefruity. Mild nondeScript citrus and resin secondarily. Bready malts with just a hint of caramel. 3.5 M: Lighter medium-medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Very mild creaminess and plenty smooth. 3.25 D: Really disappointed given this beer’s reputation and my prior experiences with Alpine. I don’t know if GF is to blame or not, but this is well before the best buy date. ★ 997 characters DavoleBomb, Jan 18, 2016

Pours hazy golden color with white head. Aromas of pine and citrus with a hint of malt. Similar flavors with a touch of sweetness and a dry finish. Medium body with average carbonation.
