on tap at toronado SD. pours a clear, light gold with a thin, white head and tight rings of sticky lace. aroma is great with huge fruity notes of peaches, sweet, dried apricots, and tangerine citrus with notes of fresh cut grass, pine esters, and light, toasted malts. flavor is delicious as well with big, fruity hop notes of tangerine and pink grapefruit with light tropical fruits and hints of sweet, green grapes backed by dry, dusty, toasted, caramel malts. palate is medium bodied with solid carbonation and a dry, bitter finish. overall, a great sessionable ipa.

Clear golden pour with white head. Aroma is hoppy and taste is sweet and floral with slight bitterness. Too easy to drink.

Clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Big huge citrus and pine aroma and taste with a woody bitterness and a thick palate.

8/16/10 notes: on tap, Blue Palms. A solid all-around clean IPA. Aroma had tropical elements, grapefruit, flowers. Palate is crisp and on the lighter side, which I greatly prefer for IPAs. Hops of clear display here. Finishes with solid bitterness, good floral character.

I had this on draft at the Blue Palms’ Second Anniversary Party. This clear yellow-gold pour is tropical hoppy and very dry.

On tap. Pours with a clear golden body and a large white head. Aroma is huge, amarilloish tropical fruit, caramel, and good all the way around. Taste is fruity, mildly bitter finish, mango, nectarine and dry. Lively bubbles, well attenuated.

A: The pour is a slightly hazy golden color with a drop of orange for a little variety. A nice fluffy white head and solid lacing. S: This is what you expect from an Alpine beer: tons and tons of hops. Lots of grapefruit and some tropical fruit notes along with plenty of pine, too. If there’s a malt scent in there, I couldn’t find it. T: The hops continue to dominate on the palate. A very nice resinous bitterness along with tons of fruit character. Grapefruit, lemon, pineapple, and lots of pine. M: The body is a bit on the light side, but this works just fine for a pale ale. A good amount of carbonation, and a real crisp finish. D: This is one of my new Alpine favorites. So brutally hoppy, but so easy to drink (helped along by a moderate ABV).

Not sure if it’s the water integrity or otherwise, but the consistency seems to almost chafe the tongue with a granite-like mouthfeel. The flavor is indicative of its title, however, and douses the taste-buds with obligatory hoppiness. The low APV pulls the leash back on this beer from having a ferocious bite, but it’s still decent enough. The aftertaste feels like you’ve been gargling sand from the Sahara desert, which is probably not the desired effect. Scent is that of spruce trees in a high-wind. Adequate, but not overwhelmingly fantastic.

Draft: nose is vividly piney and minty, retardedly fresh smelling, but again, fuckin’ piney like snorting an 8 ball of christmas. Pretty transparent and light in color. Head didn’t really have room to exist in the pint glass. Did I mention I hate pint glasses? Fucking stupid pieces of shit! Flavors were full on pine...in a very nice vivid way. This is fucking christmas tree beer right here and as fresh an ipa can be. Though the body is just medium, it somehow has a syrupy nature to it, but regardless...this is like drinking pureed christmas trees, if that tasted like ipa.

Growler courtesy of stefanje after RBSG. Thanks! Pours a clear pale amber color with a large frothy white head. Decent head retention and nice lacing. Aroma of citrus hops, including grapefruit, pineapple and candied citrus and some tropical notes. Some faint caramel malts as well. The taste is bitter earthy hops with some resin and citrus notes. Pale malts in the background. Medium bodied. Nice, drinkable IPA.
