3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 StefanSD (1804) - Lakeside, California, USA - OCT 26, 2012650 ml bottle. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a small beige head that soon recedes to a fine film. The aroma is earthy, roasty and musty with mocha, dark chocolates and melons. The taste is complex with well roasted grains in the forefront, then--fruits, spices, chocolates and bitter walnuts. The palate is full and creamy smooth and the carbonation is soft. Finishes long, dry and leaves you with an earthy aftertaste. Overall: This is what a Bud drinker would call Weird, but I call it Yummy.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tmoreau (1673) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 28, 2013
Shared bomber poured to snifters, showing a cloudy, ashen, brown tone, with modest, light tan head foam, and spots & streaks of lacing. The aroma started with a little roastiness, then nutmeg, lesser cinnamon, and a dark fruit/prune that must have been the pumpkin essence to my nose. Moderately bitter, medium bodied, and softly carbonated, the flavor was a little vegetal, earthy, dry, and somewhat astringent. Appreciated the generosity, but not a fan.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 DocJitsu (334) - California, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Pours a cola brown color with a root beer colored head. In Alpine fashion, the head doesn’t stick around long. Nutty, woody, and coffee aromas. Mouthfeel is full and wet with a bit of a carbonation burn at the finish. Raw pumpkin, smoke, and some plastic flavors. Not my favorite. I’m 0-2 with pumpkin ales the Fall.

Draft… Pours nearly black with a mid-sized, tight, beige head that slowly subsides and leaves weeping lacework. The aroma is a mixture of tree nuts, deeply roasted grist, gobs of pumpkin meat and a touch of winter spice. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. The flavor is fairly bland, but roasty and bitter with loads of grainy roasted barley. Finishes moderately bitter and burnt, but falls flat in the end. Bottle courtesy of richiesd!
