Ichabod Ale 2013. Our holiday season ale is made with a base amber ale. Then, over 100 pounds of roasted pumpkin were smashed into the mash to the brewers’s delight. Just enough fresh cinnamon and hand ground nutmeg were infused into this hauntingly delicious brew. Enjoy the hearty grog with a friend because two heads are better than one.

Bottle @ home. Clear amber pour with a white head. Aroma is kind of bland. Some toast, bread, and a bit of cinnamon. Weird pepper and anise aromas. Flavor is strangely bitter. Cinnamon, toast, and some bread. Notes of anise, black pepper, and a light apple note. Not a fan.

Pours a reddish amber with a one finger tan head with some lacing. Aroma is of pumpkin, pie spices, brown sugar, caramel, and toasted sweet malts. Taste is pumpkIn meat, pie spice, molasses, caramel, toasted sweet malts, bitter walnuts, and some pine. Has a medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, slighty dry, medium long finish. Overall, a very nice pumpkin amber that is well balanced bewteen pumkin pie sweetness and some bitter nut and line flavors.

651mL thanks to LtDan! Clear amber pour, medium beige foam. Licorice heavy nose with big rustic malt and whole grain bready malt. Taste is mild pumpkin spices, not really anything besides rustic whole grain bread with crust. Palate is rich though, almost Biere de Garde style. Would work well as a Biere de Garde.

Bottle from Terry. Pours deep amber with a fluffy khaki head. Aroma is big pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice. Taste is sweet with a little bitterness on the end. Creamy texture but the finish is a little rough. Good stuff for sure.

650 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a hazy roan brown color with a small beige head that soon recedes to a fine film. The aroma is mild and understated with squash, spices and something earthy. The taste is light pumpkin, breads, a trace of pumpkin pie spice, bitter walnuts and roasted grains. The palate was full and just a bit oily and the carbonation was lively. The finish was long and bitter. Overall: Decent pumpkin ale--I especially liked the bitter finish.
