tap at the brewpub-pours dark orange amber with a small soapy white head. nose of earthy hops and carmel sweetness. the carmel malt almost gives this beer a medicinal note on the initial flavors but followed with alot of earthy/leafy hops and toasted grains. big toasted finish with notes of bread and cookie. pleasant body with a slick mouthfeal. A very solid sample of this style!

The beer pours a nice reddish brown with a 1 finger head that fades quickly. Smells are caramel and orange peel. The taste is sweet malts and kind of bland. One of my least favorite of the 8 i had from alpine.

Draft at Alpine brewpub. Clear red amber pour, with off-white head. Caramel malts, light sweetness, fruit, light bread, and light hops. I thought it was pretty good for a kind of shitty style.

Poured a dark amber with a nice double-finger head. Some nice lacing as I work my way through the glass. The smell is of sweet malt, and is fairly complex, as is often the style with a good Irish Red Ale. The taste is all malt, with only the faintest hint of hop bitterness. I can definitely see the insane number of different malts in this, as the taste is fairly complex. Nice and medium-bodied and very drinkable, especially for a style that’s not one of my favorites.

Pours a nice reddish amber color. The aroma is faint and not all that engaging. A little sweetness, toffee, caramel. The flavor is a little fruity up front, maybe some red fruits and plum. The main malt character and dominant experience is the caramel malt. No hop presence here to speak. Would have liked a little more balance.

A: The pour is a pretty interesting color. Deep, dark red, perhaps garnet with a thin off-white head.
S: The nose is pretty bland, unfortunately. Maybe some toffee and caramel, a hint of cacao. No hops to be seen, which is odd for an Alpine beer.
T: The flavor is a little bit better, but not by much. Some toffee, bread, toasted malt, and some molasses. A light bitterness and some burnt sugar.
M: The mouthfeel is decent: medium body and carbonation.
D: One of the few Alpine beers that is just plain bland. At least the bad fruit flavored ones have a strong flavor to them.
