An outstanding hop from New Zealand, Nelson Sauvin, is generously used throughout the brewing and dry-hopping of this unique beer. European rye is added for a smooth, malty addition to flavor. 1.065 OG 7%ABV

On tap, poured a lightly hazy yellow hue w/ medium lasting white head. Moderate to bold floral hop aromas. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a bold bitter finish. Tastes are lime, grassy hop, grapefruit pith, and straw. Medium bodied, lively carbonation and creamy mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Had on tap at the Grog. $8.03 ($7.50 = $0.53 tax) for the 16 oz. serving. To pint, it pours a partially fogged light orange-tinted lemon chiffon with which a fluffy off-white head 1 finger in length stood. I know I was going to enjoy this.

Aromas of cilantro, candied tangerines, minerals, Oceanic hops, denim jeans, lime meat, beach sand, guava, cabbage, white pepper, and chopped chives.
Tastes much the same with the addition of celery salt, damp newspaper, and sourdough. Grapefruit zest lingering chummily at swallow.
Smoothly potable and enchantingly soft.
Was the best beer by far on the menu. Had been a little giddy to read it on the taplist. Haven’t quaffed this IPA in nearly 3 years; tastes identically to what I had back then, but I probably appreciated this more given that I hardly knew next to nothing about hops. Since I’ve been overexposed to the diverse flavors and varieties of otherworldly hops this planet has to offer, this no longer is, at least to me, the unquestionable legendary Nelson Sauvin IPA I once knew. Still, though: best beer on the menu.

Tap in SF. Hazy gold orange. Amazing ripe mango, catty, lightly dank nose - plenty of peach and orange too. Big juicy Nelson up front in the taste: mangos, peach, pineapple with a cut through of dank catty stuff and sharper citrus. Light bread and spice to back up - hop character framed perfectly. Great citric bite and a serious tropical linger. You could drink this by the gallon. And I damn well did.

22oz bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. Pours cloudy orange-yellow. Very little head. Aroma is tropical fruits - orange, lime, melon, pineapple, mango. cereal notes in the background. Taste is mildly bitter throughout. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture, bitter finish.

First thing I notice with Nelson is the intense dry hops that are used. I was quite surprised by the IBU as this is quite bitter. Most noticeable is the grainy element of Nelson, with quite a bit of pine and an overall earthiness. Although this is quite good, Duet and Hoppy birthday are at the top of my list, just behind expo :)

22 oz from trade with phesterjau. Looks light corn. Smells of light lemon citrus hops. Tastes of the same with less hop boldness than i remember, but the last time i had this beer it was on tap at the brewery so i guess i am just being picky. Good beer
