Type: Draft Glass: 8-oz. snifter (I think) From: Alpine Beer Company in Alpine, Calif. Price: $9.00 (I think) Purchased: Jan. 13, 2015 Consumed: Jan. 13, 2015 Misc.: On the Kiwi Herman release day Poured a black color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy, tan head when I got it. Layered foamy lacing on the sides. Average-to-above average retention. (Sight - 4.13) Smelled dark chocolate, sweet caramel, toffee, chocolate syrup, butterscotch, vanilla, bourbon and some booziness at the end. (Smell - 4.25) Tasted similar to the nose. Got butterscotch, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, toffee, caramel, some booziness that weighs on you, and some Jim Beam and Jack Daniels notes. (Taste - 4.13) Medium body. Creamy, slick texture. Average carbonation. Long, warming finish. (Feel - 4.25) A pretty decent imperial stout overall. Wish I would have had another Kiwi Herman and tried this at a later date, but it was the first time I saw it on tap since I moved here in September. (Overall - 4.13) 4.17 93 A-

22oz bottle in a teku. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some dark chocolate, bourbon and oak and light notes of vanilla, hints of coffee, some dough, and light sweetness. Flavor the same with a nice amount of bourbon and oak to go with the imperial stout. Smooth, thicker texture. A really good barrel aged imperial stout.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours an opaque dark brown with a small tan head. Nose is caramel, malt, chocolate. Flavor is similar to the non BA version - a big malt bomb. Some oak and vanilla notes, not much bourbon. Dry roast finish. On the watery side. Just ok.
