Bottle at Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest 2014. Dark brown, near black pour, with a small tan head. Milk chocolate, roasted malt, a bit of dark fruit, burnt toast, vanilla, oak, and mild bourbon. Fairly light and watery for the style. Meh.

22oz bottle in a teku. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some dark chocolate, bourbon and oak and light notes of vanilla, hints of coffee, some dough, and light sweetness. Flavor the same with a nice amount of bourbon and oak to go with the imperial stout. Smooth, thicker texture. A really good barrel aged imperial stout.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours an opaque dark brown with a small tan head. Nose is caramel, malt, chocolate. Flavor is similar to the non BA version - a big malt bomb. Some oak and vanilla notes, not much bourbon. Dry roast finish. On the watery side. Just ok.

Bottle thanks to Brian. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is roast, chocolate, oak, booze. Thin mouthfeel with sweet roast, bitter chocolate, with nice roasty finish. Hides alcohol well, very nice.

On tap at the brewpub in Alpine. Appearance: used motor oil with a durable beige colored head that leaves decent lacing. Aroma: Mainly BBA affects, including, of course, bourbon, with hints of oak. Flavor: Rich, wood-toned bourbon nearly overpowers the dark roasted grains. Slightly sweet. Feel: Full body with good but low carbonation. O: Very well hidden ABV. Heartily recommended.

Bottle shared by b3shine. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head that disappeared quickly to a thin ring. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts, the barrel is more integrated than most, bourbon, vanilla and wood. This is tasty, but the barrel may be too melded with the base beer to add much to the experience. Very good.
