Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours black with no head. The aroma is of milk chocolate and toasted pistachios. Full-bodied and super creamy with prickly carbonation. The flavor is just a touch lactic and yogurty, otherwise it’s brilliant. Burnt and bitter with gobs of dark chocolate. Finishes chocolaty and bittersweet. Kudos to richiesd for shipping this world class bottle of beer my way!

Ibrew2or3 (4914) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Poured up on tap at the brewpub with a deep dark body supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma is big sweet smooth bourbon and vanilla slightly nuanced by faint notes of dark roasted maltiness. The aroma is almost all barrel notes. The taste starts with sweet smooth bourbon and sweet vanilla and then gets boozy with harsh grain alcohol notes. That’s it. Since I’ve never had the un barrel aged version it makes me wonder what the actual beer tastes like. This is all booze and bourbon and little else.

22oz bottle pours an oily, opaque black with one ring of tan head. Smells like cake icing, vanilla, caramel, malty, chocolate, light bourbon. Sweet, vanilla flavor, cola, chocolate, a little cherry, malty, caramel. Full bodied, soft, sweet finish.

murky red brown pour, thinnest white bubble head. Nose is moderate diacetyl, dusty coffee and oak. Flavor drops diacetyl , coffee across front with chocolate and cake mid-finish, bit of thin eat in the end. Bit burnt through the finish.

22oz bottle shared by ygtbsm94: Pours an oily opaque with a spotty-lacing dark tan head. Has a sweet chewy dark caramel and chocolate nose with some bourbon vanilla notes. Starts with pretty good fullness and chewy dark malty sweetness with good oaky bourbon flavor before a drier, roasty finish, with a hint of tartness. A pretty good bourbon-barrel imperial stout, but could use a little more body.

651mL thanks to ygtbsm94. Pours deep maroon SRM with medium tan head. Webby lace. Excellent full smoked nose with bacon and peat. Taste is tangy, citric, roasty, lemon tang with some salty bacon. Very nice beer- very different from what I was expecting. Smoked flavor is excellent. Very tart to even sour finish. Sharp, sour and spicy. Easy to love. Thinner than expected palate with sharp sourness in the back end. Good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared by ygtbsm94. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy tan head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is salt bacon, smoke, cookie and toast malt with dates and plums. Flavor is malt dominant with alcohol and oak, dark malt and medium bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body, warmth and carbonation.

22oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a big tan head that recedes quickly to a thin cap. Aroma is interesting and unexpected. It’s super sweet with butterscoth immediately coming to mind with a combination of vanilla extract, chocolate. The barrel presence is subtle with light bourbon and oak in the nose. The taste starts with some heavily roasted malts mixed with chocolate and vanilla. The bourbon and oak are definitely there, especially in the finish. But there is also some of the butterscotch sweetness throughout. The mouthfeel is thin to moderate for the style with low carbonation. Very slick. I’m not exactly sure this is what the beer was intended to taste like with the diacetyl starting to come out, but I enjoyed it a little bit anyway.

Pours dark black amber coffee in color with a small caramel head. The aroma has pure vanilla bourbon notes, very light sweet and smooth in the nose. The flavor is light vanilla booze notes with sweet malts. There is a bit of a bite of strong vanilla boozy extract at the end.

Bottle courtesy of mdfb79. Served in a SAVOR wine glass. Pours near black with a thin off-white head and a bit of lacing. Thin collar throughout. Nose carries some roast and quite a bit of chocolate. Some malty sweetness as well. Very light bourbon. More bourbon in the flavor along with chocolate and a touch of roast. Medium body with low-medium carbonation. Smooth. Pretty good.
