COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We came up with a new beer. It’s an Imperial Stout and we’re calling it “Odin’s Raven.” As many of you older locals remember the famous anchorman Ron Burgundy doing the news and his favorite expletive “Great Odin’s Raven.” We want to pay tribute to a funny, funny man. Thanks Ron. We’re releasing, for growler fills only, this 10% elixir this Saturday, December 18th as soon as the brewery opens. You’ll also be able to order pints, or smaller, of “Odin’s Raven” at the pub starting Saturday.

Growler… Pours black with a mid-sized, creamy, lightly tanned head. Fantastic retention and thick lacework. The bouquet offers burnt malt, chocolate syrup, a splash of espresso and an unexpected toasted nut element… in other words; it smells like a brownie. Full-bodied and milky with stinging carbonation. The flavor is deeply roasted bitterness intermingled with dark chocolate sweetness. The finish is bittersweet, tongue-numbing, deeply roasted, and then surprisingly grassy. Growler courtesy of richiesd!

Tap at Downtown JB’s, SD. It pours jet black, with a big light tan head. The nose is wood, coffee, burnt tire, liquorice, Christmas pudding, molasses and roasted malt. The taste is roasted malt, toast, burnt sugar, rich-roast coffee, liquorice, touch of varnish, spice and linger alcohol warmth. Full body and moderate carbonation. A solid roasty imperial stout.

Phone rate. Tap at O’Brien’s. Deep ruby with one finger creamy beige, long lasting. Nutty nose flavor has some nice nutty vanilla notes up front with some creamy sweetness, pretty big chocolate with some moderate roast.. Nice and roasty with a bit of coconut, finish dry with some alcohol, bitterness at a 3-4. Low carbonation with a full body. Very tasty--more of a dessert beer. Not what I had expected from the hopheads at Alpine.

Poured pitch black with an inch of milk chocolate head. Smelled of coffee and chocolate when it was cold, but the alcohol takes a dominant role as it warms. Tastes of chocolate and has a nice burn. Leaves a coffee aftertaste.

On tap at OBriens, backlogged rating. Barrel-aged imperial stout? Great aroma of roasted malt with light notes of pancake batter. Additional notes of blueberry and milk chocolate. Light tan head with dark beige swirls. Deep black. Roasty flavor with notes of coffee. Medium bitterness and light acidity.

Served on tap at the BBQ Pub. The appearance is a deep black with a good sized creamy brown head. The flavors and aromas are rich with milk chocolate, medium roast malts, very creamy flavors. The mouth is medium to full bodied with a great little creaminess. A lighter bodied IRS but a very tasty one.

Alpine odins raven. Growler from a westcoast pal... Pours a medium to thick stouty black pour with reddish hues a its edges and topped with a thin to medium soapy light beige head... Aroma of cocoa, chocolate, and a solid stout profile overall... Flavors are sweet with cocoa, milk chocolate, and a mild bitter roast. Smooth bodied with a silky smooth finish. Medium carbonation. Well done and solid for the style albeit nothing too unique. totally drinkable for an imperial stout while keeping the heat very much well hidden. 8/4/8/4/15

Growler shared at Kan’s. Thanks! Pours a nice near opaque blackish hue, a small to decent frothy light brown head. Laces well. Aromas are molasses, toffee, and cocoa. Good creamy sweetness with rich cocoa and coffee. Initial is medium to fuller bodied, nice roast and toast, moving into fuller chocolate, coffee, with ok roast. The coffee and earthy roast really grows, with good peanut, earthy soil, and black earthy smokey coffee. Middle sweetens up just a touch, with some dark cocoa, with really dark and roasty feels. Man, this thing gets earthy and roasty, peanuts and smoke, soil. Earthy rich black coffee beans. Man. This is nice and earthy roast driven, bitter finish.
