4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TAR (2236) - Lafayette, USA - MAR 22, 2005
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2006 Clear pale gold. Creamy, buoyant bottle-conditioned bubbles. Herbal-accented candied pinecone hop aroma with a faint toasted malt and peach skin scent. Soft and feathery, but somewhat fuzzy. Beautiful blend of resinous hops and tongue-scraping pine numb the palate right from the start. Ubiquitously bright, soft, and thoroughly resinous. Mild lime zest zing adds to the brightness. Hop bitterness resounds at the center, merging effortlessly with perfectly-placed toasted biscuit sweetness to balance. Juicier hop elements regain steam toward the latter half, simultaneously softening and highlighting the bitterness. Hops continue to tout their brightness with candied lemon and fresh orange pulp notes drizzled with sweet pine sap that dances with a savory toasted husk flavor. Perfect level of leafy/herbal dryness in the finish, but the body remains equally gooey and drenched to the core with hops and a perpetual polished blend of soft citrus contrasted with pine. Sumptuous citrus & pine flavored hop burps follow. Pure hop potion, showing the finesse and restraint of the likes of Dreadnaught and Big Eye. Thanks, cquiroga.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 DConMan (22) - Ballwin, Missouri, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Enjoyed a very generous, 12oz Pour from a Growler @ the Royale in St. Louis, MO. Poured from the Alpine Beer Labeled 64oz Growler w/ the Mts. across the label into a 12oz Pint Glass. Fresh from the brewery!
Aroma- Huge hops and strength hits the nose first. Then strong fruit and malt come into play. A very balanced nose.
Appearance- Pours a 1 finger head that has average retention. Has a dark copper, light orange colored body with a reddish, cloudy background. Leaves good lacing behind.
Flavor- Tons of character, strength, and mixed hop flavors hit the palate first. Hops galore and had a stupid amount of bitterness. One of the highest I’ve had in a minute.
Mouthfeel- Medium-Full Bodied, Medium Carbonation, Smooth, sweet on the finish, and had a easy alcohol strength.
Overall Impression- For a top ranked 2X IPA, this one was very nice but not in my top 5 list. Still am glad I finally was able to enjoy this guy! Highly recommend nonetheless and will be looking for this in bottle!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 blipp (3889) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - APR 19, 2012
Bottle shared by either Marsiblursi or MaxxDaddy I think, maybe someone else. Pours orange, with a thin white head. Fruity hoppy aroma, with lighter piney notes. The flavor has a clean and lightly sweet malty base, with sweet citric fruity hops, and lighter piney notes. Good stuff, and better than Exponential Hoppiness in my opinion.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 blklab2007 (1418) - Connecticut, USA - APR 12, 2012
Bottle poured a darker golden color with a thin covering of white head that fell off fairly quickly. Aroma has a huge hop blast, pine resin, light lemony citrus, and wet hop cones. mouth feel is medium light with average carbonation. Flavor has pine, resins, wet herb, light citrus, a bit of malt kicks in with a nice lingering bitterness on the finish. This has very little sweetness but it is not dry either and it does have some malt for a base. I tend to like a beer that leads in one way or another and although this is absolutely awesome all the elements are in a tie while I am looking for something to stand out above the rest.
