Old_Mr_Crow (1004), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 21, 2008 Bottle courtesy of toncatcher -- thanks! I’ve wanted to try the alpine IPAs for a long time.
Pours a light orange, nice head. Huge leafy green hop aroma, definitely cascade but so delightfully leafy, not too much caramel. Nice leafy flavor, c-hops but not overbearing on the orange or pine, nicely hoppy without the oily bitterness on the close. fairly week malt background, low carbonation. Smooth and easy-drinking at 8%. All around a very, very nice IPA in my favorite vein (leafy, juicy, relatively dry) that competes well with the best I can get around here.
RunDWP (140), San Jose, California, USA Aug 13, 2008 On tap. Just not a lot of malt at all in this one, just a lot of clear, piney hops. Actually, slightly watery in sort of a refreshing way. Crisp and a little astringent. Straightforward and not very complex piney hops. Doesn’t seem to be agressive despite basically lacking in any malt flavor. maniac (1949), Richmond, Virginia, USA Aug 9, 2008 On tap At O’Brien’s in San Diego on 08/01/2008 on the RBSG Friday Pub Crawl. Clear golden amber body with a small white head. Citrus anf floral hop aroma. Sweet citrus and floral hop aroma with a light bitter finish. Medium body with moderately high carbonation. lassem (106), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 8, 2008 Pours a amber golden body with an off-white head. Nose is really hoppy with notes of elder flower. The flavor is of cause very hoppy, but i also taste grass, honey-melon - not very complex. The finish is long lasting and blooming. The palate is pretty waterish and fading - im missing a little more bite. But alltogether a fine and good beer. yespr (6162), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From tap at Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Pours almost clear and golden orange with a lacing white head. Light peachy and grapefruity hops aroma. Flavour is dense malty and solid hoppy fruity. Utterly wellbalanced and smooth. Medium dry hoppy finish with a nice bitterness. piscator34 (903), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Aug 1, 2008 Bottled sample via (and shared with) oakbluff. Very clear orange in colour with medium carbonation. This is a citrusy c-hop assault on the nose, with pine and grass notes following up. The clean malt flavors mix well with the huge orange-grapefruit hop explosion. Fine drying bitterness, with no alcohol notes (surprising for an 8% brew). Reminds me a bit of Two Hearted, but kicked up a notch. Great stuff.
