COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A West Coast Double IPA So mega-hopped it will take you to hop heaven. We’ve used hops in the boil, more hops in the giant hopback, and added to that, an incredible amount of dry-hopping for that cutting-edge “hop bite.” Once you’ve tasted this unique beer, all others pale in comparison. 1.072 OG Classified IBU 8%ABV

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Dogfish Head Stemmed glass. The color is a hazy dark orange with two fingers of foamy white head and some nice lacing left on the glass. The smell is pretty piney and smells a bit like wet hops. Some nice citrus flavor is the background that is quite lemony in flavor and is a bit pithy. The taste is bitter citrus hop flavor at first. There is a soft embrace of piney flavors with the hops in front and a nice malty flavor that finishes this beer off in the back. There is some interesting hits of sugary flavor that is a bit too sweet but overall the taste is really good. The feel of this beet is medium bodied with some strong hop flavor that is strong but easy to handle. It goes down well and is just the right mix for a West Coast IPA.

Bottle at Chateau Jackl, a nice extra from a recent IP trade, 13/08/14. Lightly hazed golden amber with moderate off white spotting and edgework. Nose is bitter pine, spice, cedar wood, bitter grapefruit notes, toasty ring, hops and plenty of them. Taste comprises floral notes, pine resin, bitter grapefruit, orange pith, citric tinged straw. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in the close. Solid DIPA.

On tap at the brewpub in Alpine. Appearance: Clear light amber; excellent clarity; a weak off-shite head that manages to leaves some sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma: very, very mild and subtle for style. Just faint hops. Pleasant. Flavor: Mild for style -- more IPA than DIPA -- still, stronger and hoppier than the aroma suggests. Moderate complexity. Only moderately bitter at its peak. Moderate complexity. The hop flavor lingers on in the aftertaste. Feel: Light-medium body with near medium carbonation. Dry finish. Slightly astringent. O: a distinctive (D)IPA. Recommended.

Bottle thanks to Nick, week old! Pours a clear orange gold with small frothy white head. The aroma is strong pine, hemp, resin, tropical fruit. Medium mouthfeel with fruity hop, light pine, resin, and light bitterness. Really enjoyed this one.

Bottle via trade. Pours a hazy amber with minimal head. Nose was some citrus, a bit of pine and onion, and some sweet caramel. I was rather surprised by this because I was thinking it might be similar to Nelson, but this was very sweet to me. Old bottle perhaps? Still very good, just wasn’t expecting to get sweet malts from it. Pretty balanced bitter and dryness to it. Medium bodied. Not my favorite, but certainly not terrible.
