3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: The beer pours a cloudy golden orange with a white head.
S: Starts off with nice grapefruit/citrus hops on the nose. Plenty of floral notes along with a mild bread note and a light wheat smell. There is plenty of pine hop character as well.
T: A moderate hop/pine bitterness to open up. Like with any hoppy Alpine beer, lots of citrus and pine hop flavors. There is just a light floral note and some light maltiness.
M: Medium in body and carbonation.
O: I’ve liked these lower alcohol, highly hopped beers from Alpine. A nicely done beer.

Growler… October ’09 O-Town Throwdown... This beer rocks!… Clear yellow ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The bouquet is fruity, resiny and earthy, unleashing notes of Simcoe, Nelson and either Amarillo or Chinook hops – intoxicating combination, whatever it may be. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Carefully bittered flavor. Nice balance between bitter, sweet and acidic. Crisp finish… the bitterness lingers. I love Alpine’s session beers. They’re second to none. World class quaffer!

Growler. Pine hops galore. Flavor follows suit with the pine hops and a hint of grapefruit peel. Lgith malt to balance. Good stuff.

October ’09 O-Town Throwdown
Cheers Hopscotch for the growler.
Pours golden, thin white head.
Aroma is just like some other Alpine goodness, fresh hops, reminds me of NZ hops, some amazing citrus hops.
Flavor, hoppy, citrus, pine, ends with hints of spices. Amazing lemongrass mouthfeel, for 4.2% this is crazy drinkable.

Big thanks to mdfb79 for sharing this growler. Served in an Alpine pint glass on an Alpine coaster while wearing an Alpine t-shirt. That’s right, Paul. Aside from demolishing Paul, the beer was also quite pleasant to drink.
Pours a nice apricot color with a two-finger white head and good lacing and retention.
Nose carries a light dosing of New Zealand hops. Citrus rind and light tropical notes, plus just a touch of pine. Nothing too strong -- they could have gone with more here. The flavor adds a bit more character and isn’t quite as tame, with nice fruity notes throughout.
Light body with crisp carbonation and a light bitterness. Nothing too intense, but a great summer brew.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Draftat toronado with dallas and Andrew. Pours a hazy amber body with insane white lacing. Aroma is incredible blend of citrus fruits - apricot, peach, and grapefruit. Mouthfeel is perfect for an American pale ale with same fruity notes plus pine. Awesome.

On tap at PP Carlsbad. This is a wheat/pale ale. Hazy gold/orange pour. Low abv, easy to drink, yet a good amount of hops. Citrus, wheat malt, some sweetness, piney hops, and light bread. An enjoyable session ale.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2009 On tap at O’Brien’s in San Diego. Awesome clear golden color with a foamy white head and some lacing that fades to a ring. Aroma is somewhat mild and a little odd, almost like the smell after a rain, along with some citrusy hops. Flavor is lots of fresh rough citrus hops, some grain, and a little pale malt. Tasty. Palate is medium light with hoppiness lingering. A nice session pale ale overall, great for the style.
EDIT: Had this again at Pizza Port Carlsbad and it was awesome! Great fresh hop aroma and flavor. Incredibly sessionable.
