COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Since “Willy” is so versatile and can be flavored with fruits and essences, we add a touch of vanilla extract to compliment the sweet nuttiness. Also good mixed with Captain Stout, a blend we call “The Captain and Vanil.”

Draft... RBSG’08... Mostly clear yellow ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Excellent retention. Mild, grainy, vanilla aroma. Light-bodied with lively carbonation. Refreshing, lightly grainy, vanilla flavor. Crisp, vanilla finish. Very reminiscent of Anderson Valley Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema.

Growler sample at RBSG; Nose is vanilla and light floral hops; clear gold with a small white head; flavor is vanilla with light hop bitterness. Nice and vanillay!

From growler. Pours clear and yellow with a lacing white head. Aroma is mild vanilla. Flavour is quite dense on the vanilla and not much more. Finish is mild wheaty flavoured and smooth yet again also dense vanilla.

Growler at RBSG. Pours a crystal clear gold, with a medium pearly white head. Lotsof those vanilla beans in the nose, caramel, and sugars. Really sweet smelling. Huge vanilla flavor, almost to the point of being obnoxious. You really gotta like sweet beers to enjoy this bad boy. Definitely an interesting try, but they seem to have overdone it a bit. It was almost like I was drinking vanilla ice cream or something. Not sure I cared for it that much though.

RBSG ’08. Poured from a growler that was being carrying around. Sampled late in the tasting, so my recollection was not at best. Yellowish color with good carbonation. Sweet vanilla bean aroma with a wheat-grain undertone. Flavor is very sweet. Simple and straightforward. A bit too sweet for my taste.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2010 Growler pour at RBSG grand tasting. Thanks to whoever brought it. Poured a yellow gold color with a small white head. Aroma of almonds and vanilla. Taste of more vanilla, roasted malts and a bit of metal. The mouthfeel was light. The finish was long with lingering vanilla. Overall: A very refreshing Beer. Resampled 7-14.

On tap at the brewery. Lots of vanilla on the nose and flavor as well. I don’t like vanilla in anything but cookies. But this was quite nice.

on tap-pours a retaining foamy white head and yellow color. Aroma is vanilla. Taste is vanilla (some cream character), faint grain. Occasional. OK carbonation.

On tap @ the brewery. Asst. brewer said it was brewed with Vanilla extract, not beans.....oh well. Poured just like Willy, clear gold with a 2 finger head. Big vanilla nose, tasted like Italian cream soda.....pretty good.

Tasted at Brewery. Yellow with a fluffy white head. Vanilla and bread aroma and taste without being overly sweet. Better than I was expecting.
