COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Malty, but not too sweet, with a nice hop flavor. The conditioning time of 8 weeks guarantees the exceptional balance, smoothness and full body, typical of this beer style.

Biscuit malt mixes nicely with moderate caramel and brown sugar. More than your-average-Oktoberfest’s hop finish, but still on with the style. Very solid and enjoyable.

Bottle. Darker amber nearing brown with minimal head. Malty, slightly sweet with a nice light hopy balance. Aroma was malty and sugary. Decent palate is rich.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2007 Bomber.

Pours a caramel brown with a nice off-white head. The aroma is lemony, some caramel and just a hint of orange peel and plenty of bready yeast. The flavor is doughy, gently sweet, a bit hollow (again, that funny "forgot-to-put-salt-in-the-pasta-water" taste -- how should I be describing this?), crisply bitter on the finish but with a rather unpleasant vegetal twist.

This is just fine as accompaniment to dinner tonight but I doubt that I would seek it out again.

Bomber courtesy of Pitonka 5000. Pours copper with almost no carbonation and some thin white bubbles. Smells of caramel, some pepper, some earthiness, hints of pepper. Tastes sweet and malty with some toffee and caramel dominating. Decent.

@GCBF-on tap-pours a thin white head and copper color. Aroma is medium malt-fruit. Taste is medium malt-caramel, fruit, secondary hops bite. OK carbonation. Liked less as it went along.

Pint @ 74th St. Ale House. Tastes OK I suppose. Rather thin and not really much to it. Paled in comparison to the Snoqualmie Oktoberfest I had right after this. Golden color with very little aroma. My beer needs more body!

2004 draught. Pours a light orange with some dark yellows. Strangely, the colors separate and you’ve got lots of yellow on the top and edges and it looks like orange food coloring added in the middle. No head. Smells musty and old, with nutty, lightly bitter hops and malt. Flavor is sweet and caramelly, with a light hops bitterness. Doughy and medium full bodied, it’s quite full on the flavor, it just gets a bit boring. I didnt find my sample watery though. Low carbonation.

Bottle: Deep translucent amber, moderate foamy off-white head, light carbonation, fairly nice lacing.   Musty cereal aroma, slight wet cardboard, a little barnish.   Very cereal/oat oriented on the tongue.   Soft caramel or vienna malts perhaps, but unfortunately a little metallic on the backside.   Semi-sweet malt profile, but the finish is a bit rough.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Lingering metallic taste, along with a soft semi-sweet grainy astringency.   For a local Oktoberfest, I still prefer Baron the most!
