awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA Jul 7, 2007 On tap. Hazy, deep golden yellow colored pour with practically no head. Thick aroma of bananas, cream, and a smidgen of clove spice. Medium-full bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. The body is a bit chewy, with only a small amount of carbonation, giving it a slick, oily feel. Flavors of banana, caramelized wheat, and a touch of vanilla. Some bubblegummy yeast rounds out the finish. The flavors are pretty good and improved serving conditions would no doubt improve this somewhat. The color comes as a surprise, but it’s actually quite interesting. glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 7, 2007 Cloudy golden with big head. Spicy banana and light citrus aroma and taste. Nice spice to it. You can really taste the alcohol as well...not very subdued. Interesting take on a Weizen Bock. I’d have another. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Apr 9, 2007 Big banana nose, very faint on the cloves. Thick on the palate without much carbonation to break it up, it felt very heavy. Ligher in color, more like an amber hue, with a small white head. Enjoyable throughout with a ton of yeast esters and big wheat flavor. A deep dark cloudy brew with a thin creamy head. This was a deep wheat brew with a lot of wheat and dark grains used. Liked the underlying yeasts that they used. Very sweet in the flavor and at the end it as like bananas and very refreshing. Interesting beer.
JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 20, 2006 Draught, sold as Maibock Fully, hazy orange; small off-white head. Diacetyl! and a lot of it; further some pine and lots of malts. Diacetyl, to the point of being slightly sourish - buttery. Sweet-ish, malty notes but ruined by the diacetyl. Very smooth, good body, slick. This is supposed to be a.... Weizenbock. Then bl... LAGER your beers. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Apr 16, 2006 Quite rich and tasty. Big nose of bubblegum and bananas. Flavor is a puree of bananas and clove mixed with some other spiciness and a day old bread maltiness, chewy and kind of grainey. Enjoyable. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Apr 9, 2006 Cloudy beige colour (deliberately pale). Fairly heavy yeast (flower, clove, banana) aroma. Assertive banana, spice, bubblegum, alcohol and pale bready malt character. A bold, brash mix...solid weizenbock. Weizenmaibock I should say. Not sure I’ve ever had one of those before, but it’s a good idea.
