Aroma> caramel, hay, grass Appearance> mild brown, foamy head Taste> slight sweetness, slight sourness Palate> slick texture, abrupt finish, soft carbonation, medium body Not much different from any other Alpirsbacher, except of the dark malt, Schwarzbier influences :-)

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2014 50cl bottle local. Pours a typically watery DE-Dunkel brown with reddish hue and small cola fizz head. Nice roasted malt profile, laying an enticing base of roasted nuts, almonds, cola, caramel for the sulphurically dry Alpirsbacher house yeast to work with and the powerfully aromatic "100% natural hops" to add convingly spicy and even citrus notes on top of. Plain, but of very high quality as far as the less than sexy Dunkel style goes. Repeated sampling by 02/2014: dry, roasted, natural hops - this definitely deserves a higher rating according to its style. / Rerate from tap@source: creamier, quite breadcrust-malt aromatic, spicy hops. Nice one, very sessionable at that +1.

Bottle from Bierland, pours red-brown with a thin white head, roast malt, coffee and a little plum on the nose, roasty and nutty body with hop aroma, a touch of coffee, and a lightly burnt caramel finish.

Draught @ BBF13. Pours clear copper brown with small off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel. Sweetish, malty and caramellish flavour with notes of hops and dried fruit. Rough and sweetish aftertaste. Nice.

500ml bottle. Clear reddish mahogany colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Dark malty aroma with a toffee note, a nuttily touch. Taste is minimally dry dark malty, subtle sweetness with hints of caramel and toffee, dry hoppy overtones. OK.

zenkis (567) - Ogre, LATVIA - MAR 4, 2013
Aroma - light sweet malty, far away aroma hopped, no toasted in aroma. Pours dark brown reddish, small top, beige one, no lacing, clear. Taste is very pleasant for dunkel, mild sweet, mild bitter from toasting, cant catch hopines. Dry finish and also some acid tones afterwards, medium body, high carbonation. Was recomended in Ambrosetti beer store in Berlin by seller - his friend who is bucher and beer expert likes it, so... I like it too, but my search in Germany for good beer is still.... on
