3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bartlebier (522) - Baden-Württemberg, GERMANY - NOV 7, 2012
33cl bottle. - Decent, pleasantly hopped Märzen with light-medium moutfeel, somewhat on the dry and watery side of this potential creamy beer type. Good, but not the top of the range taste experience I expected from Alpirsbacher with this marketing.

Bügelverschlußflasche(vom Jonas!!!): Moderate honeyish-fruity nose with pale-malt and some hops underneath, golden coloured with a stable and lacy white head; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; honey and some hops in the lingering finish. A very nice and moreish brew…

RB says me 100th Oktoberfest/Märzen. Short swing-top by 02.05.13. Sweet nose, lightly grassy with leafy hops and a strong yeasty component out of the bottle, reminds very much of sticking my head into the primary fermenter and getting a whiff after pulling up a sheaf of CO2 blanket. Rich, bright clear golden body with a rocky bright white head. Taste is malty with a hint of low-lying caramel and really juicy citric hops. Straw and herbal notes pick up for the finish. Light-medium body a little bit stronger than usual, but the booze isn’t a major player. Good modern recipe despite the name.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Nice flowery-hoppy aroma. Starts strong, fine malty-spicy, not as strong as exspected. More and more wheaty notes. Finish a bit sourish, but still well balanced. Not bad!
