Bottle. Dark with some maltiness.Straight forward verging on bland. Like the style and this is a reasonable if not very exciting example.

Bottled (thanks Timo A!). Deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is toasted notes, roasted notes, and mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is the same as well as some slight with mild smoked wood as well.

Bottle from The Offie, Leicester; my first self-pouring German. Bottle-conditioned? Certainly encrusted with an intriguing layer of wax. Pours tall mahogany with a massive cream head. Maybe I shouldn’t have stuck it in a weizen. Aroma of shrubs, black breads, a cup of cocoa sprinkled with rust. Solid chocolatey taste with schwarz-like, heavily toasted, rusted iron leanings. Burnt cardboard, cigar-like afters. Lingers like a mild. Decent dunkel with some discreet roasted and herbal hop presence.

Bottle shared with our Mes. Brown with a small off white head. Aroma is malty and earthy and hints of an old pair of trainers gathering dust. Brief metallic flavour but washed away with more malts and some herby linament type stuff.

12 Aug 2010, bottle. very dark red/brown and clear. strong malty aroma. hints of some coffee and maybe some vinegar. creamy med body w/ not much carbonation. coffee flavour on the front. malty middle w/ coffee bitterness on the end. despite my coffee comments, the coffee flavour isn’t too strong and is balanced by creamy texture and malty sweetness. ok.

Bottle from the Offie, Leicester. Nice. Full, smooth choc. A bit of metal and lager in the texture. Liked it.

Maria (10176) - Thisted, DENMARK - NOV 3, 2010
It’s black-red with a creamy head, and the aroma has notes of licorice, roasted malt and caramel. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, licorice, caramel, light sweetness and the finish is dry. It’s a nice dunkel.

A Mes rate. Bottle in Devon thanks to our Weasel.
Deep dark brown with a thin off white head. Rich bready malt on the nose, slightly pukey and a little hint of pig farm. Similar in the mouth. Pleasantly roasty on the malt and a hint of leather. Some light notes of leather and cardboard. Dull but drinkable.

Bottle - 330ml. Pours a black body with a decent beige foamy head. Fair malty/hoppy aroma with roasty/grainy hints. Taste is well balanced but lacks complexity. Ends with a decent bitter/roasty finish. Average Dunkel.
