An American Red Ale, brewed for the sophistication of anchorman Ron Burgundy. Deep in a rich mahogany color, balanced maltiness, followed by a pronounce hop character. A pungent hop aroma and flavor is delivered by the use of Columbus, Summit, and Cascade hops; followed by a medium bitterness.

On tap at the brewery. Pours nice dark mahogany brown with reddy hues and a nice creamy light tan head. Aroma is nutty roasteed malts, toasted pine needles, berry, hint of coffee. Flavour is toasted brown malts, hints of roasted coffee and solid citrus and pine hops. Defo a black IPA IMHO. Palate is medium light, slightly creamy, moderate carbonation. Xolid.

Pours a finger of head on a dark brown body. The aroma is burnt wood and roasted malt. The taste has moderate pine bitterness with a blend of nuts. The texture is crisp. It’s a hoppy brown ale and a good one.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of herbal hop? Med body. Flavor seems neither nutty or chocolate to me. Mostly a lot of herb/earth hop over darkish malt. Maybe a hint of nut. The little malt does not prevent this finishing towards dry and bitter. "Brown IPA"

On tap at 10 East - My 3rd offering from them and this seemed very, very....plain. I know brown ale’s are already suffering from poor public perception, and this didn’t really do much to change that. A very minimal nose, basically water with a hint of white sugar sweetness. Flavor is equally water-like. I just didn’t get anything, good or bad. Nice body, strong appearance with a sturdy head. Lacking aroma and flavor.

Dark brown with a small head. Sour malt and molasses aroma. Rich flavor with some lemon. It’s good to try something different.

Draft. Amber-brown beer with a tan head. Rich malt and light cocoa aroma with light alcohol cleaner. Rich malt and light toffee flavor with light cocoa and backing hops. Medium bodied. Rich malt and light toffee lingers with light cocoa and backing hops.

On draft at Tap 25. This one pours a nice clear reddish brown color with a thin, off white head. The aroma is big on dark fruit, mostly cherry and plum with a touch of molasses and citrus hops. The flavor is the same with a bit of roasted malt in the finish. More toasty than I would have expected from the aroma. Solid, neutral bitterness. This drank more like an American Strong Ale really. Enjoyable.
