COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Hella” is a NorCal thing, and when used, is a sure tip-off that you are from Northern California. A classic “West Coast” Double IPA; clean malt flavor, hop flavor forward, without all the bitterness. Hella hops are used throughout the process to bring you intense floral, citrus, and tropical notes. Smooth and clean, not bitter!

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours orange amber with a decent off-white head and a strong citrus aroma. There is a very bitter caramel malt flavor with a citrus finish.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2014 On tap, 20 oz pour at Counter Burger in Fremont, CA. Tight head, low carbonation. Very hoppy as to be expected. Clean, citrus taste; no malt at all. At 9% ABV this packs a wallop, but is in no way taste tainted by the high alcoholic content. Highly recommended, but as only available on draft you will have to search for this.

On tap @ 10 East - After having their Ganja Juice IIPA, this was right behind it and for me a better attempt at an IIPA. Definitely more hop-foward with a clean malt bill, not overly sweet in any way. Grapefruit rind in both the aroma and palate. A kiss of caramel sweetness to keep it from being hop tea. Perhaps a bit one-dimensional but I hella liked it. There. Since I’m from California and we all say "hella"...I guess I had to use it here.

3 finger cream head. Golden really nice appearance. Very crisp. Dank pine with apples. Insanely bitter. Lots of sweet crystal malt at the finish. Very piney and a touch of allspice and cloves

Sampled on tap at ale arsenal. Thin head and light orange. Smooth drinking with a bit of after taste. Really nice hop palate though. Smooth and refreshing.

Sample at The Bistro DIPA-Festival, February 8. (my first one from this brewery) Hazy golden/orange with a white head. Fresh and with a pleasant hoppiness. Pineapple, mango, citrus and some biscuits. Bitter but not extremely bitter.

Tap @ Doolittle: Clear gold color with not much of a head. Sweet eggy aroma with a little rubber in there as well. Floral hop flavor with a dry sweetness about it. Blunt aftertaste that lingers. Solid 2IPA.

On tap at .burger in Capitola, pours a hazy vibrant golden orange with medium white head. Aroma brings out loads of piney hops, like a true Cali IIPA, with just enough biscuity malt to back. Flavour brings out very creamy piney hops, some tropical fruity notes - I’m reminded of peach creamsicle - and some malt to back that doesn’t really impart much flavour. Extremely creamy, piney and flavourful - everything is well-balanced. Excellent IIPA.
