Quack-Duck (1978), Bodensee, Germany Jul 20, 2008 bottle, traded with Koelschtrinker. Clear golden yellow colour, small white head. Full-bodied, malty with a fruity touch and some nice flowery, perfumy hoppy flavours. Hansen (1828), Randers, Denmark Jul 22, 2007 Yellow-golden colour, clear. Medium lasting head, white. Aroma has some dry flour notes. Bitter hopped and a nice maltyness. FrankJohansen (2876), Sabro, Denmark Jul 21, 2007 Bottle. Just another heller bock. Nothing unsual to say about this one. Grainy malty flavour. JorisPPattyn (4642), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 24, 2005 Very clear beer, colour of old gold, virtually no carbonation visible; very discreet white head. Very dry grainy nose, and a bit of solvent, caramel and honey-covered toast. Taste features again this honey&toast, but now much more marked. It is very sweet, but at the same time the opposite of cloying. Again grainy - warm, hot summergrain fields. I like this. Tastes also slightly oxydized - BBd is only 1 month overdraft. Ends drier - joss’ herbal counterpoint. Medium bodied, alcoholwarming and -thinning. Usually I’m all for the Doppelbocks, thinking of the Maibocks as their lesser brethren. This is one happy "Ausnahme". Thanks to whomever gave it to me - Robert? joss (3249), Garching b. München, Germany Sep 13, 2005 Bottle
Dark golden, low creamy head.
Quite nice aromatic hop aroma with some sugary sweetness in the background.
Sweeet malt base with a herbal counterpoint and some light ethanol burn.
Solid oily mouthfeel, still sparkly though.
Thanks to Dortmunder for the bottle.
