Flip-top 0.5l bottle from Edeka. A bit of hop and malt, light sweetness, clean and dry, a bit gassy. A fairly ordinary lager.

No hop aroma, quite yeast and malt dominant. Quite clear, very beautiful colour almost like apple juice which is quite surprising. First tastes are sweet, then collected by the malt profile combined with a slight spice flavour and finally a small hint of bitterness comes through. The yeast must have been carefully selected in making this beer, for everything else seems quite sub-par, this is the only spot where the beer has any saving grace. Would buy again.

0.5L bottle. Looks like apple juice. Tiny head fades out. The bottle is pretty cool and interesting, the beer isn’t. Really light aroma, I can’t pick much out. The taste is soft, light mouthfeel, I don’t know what makes a lager "premium" but this isn’t it.

Buona persistenza amarostica.

Gift. A little bit of sweet malt, raisin and citrus. It’s a simple brew, not bad for the style.

Bottle from grocery store in Sellin, Germany. .5 L flip-top bottle. Golden pour. Small white collar, good carbonation and lacing. An odd iron aroma - like wet rusting nails. Not bad, just different. I have a IPA nose, I immediately "seek" the hops. No hop character present. No fizzy effervescent liveliness to the aroma either. It is a solid Munich Helles lager, however. Light, grain/cereal malt with a dash of spice. A bit of hop on the back end would really round out this beer. Cool bottle. I’m a slut for cool packaging.

September 2008, from BA: Brown flip-top bottle holding 0.5 litres of a golden yellow beer which I poured into a Berliner Kindl 0.5 litre straight sided glass. The beer looked fine, clear and wholesome, a fair sized clean white head sat on top of the glowing liquid, hoped it tasted as good as it looked. Odourless, normal pilsner/lager/helles nothingness. Am I the only person on BA who struggles to pontificate about these styles of beers aromas? It gets my standard lager score of 3. Maybe I wasn’t thirsty enough, maybe I wasn’t hot enough. This was just a normal German light beer to me. OK, it was soft, clean and smooth tasting, but it was nothing special in any aspects. Nothing made it stand out from the crowd (apart from the bottle design).

50cl bottle shared. Thin white head. Clear golden pour. Nice enough but nothing special.
