2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, USA - MAR 13, 2005
(16 oz flip-top bottle: $3.20 at Liquid Solutions in Tigard, OR) Immediately upon pouring the beer into my pint glass, the nose was promising, and I thought I might be finishing up my 5-beer German pale lager session with a decent beer. Alas, that initial whiff has misled me. This is pretty much in the middle of the beers I’ve tasted in this session, not horrible, but not very good either. The malt is lightly bready and lightly sweet, and the hops barely makes any contribution at any point from start to finish, well maybe just a little late in the finsh. Unfortunately, there is a modest cardboard flavor cutting into the breadiness, and then like a schoolyard bully, getting a little pushy in the finish. Yeah, just not a pleasant flavor overall. Even after several sips, the nose still isn’t that bad, showing some breadiness, but also some slight cardboard. Light to medium body isn’t bad for a pale lager, but the palate is a bit tiring. Hazy and pale yellow in color. The small, whitish head is mostly just larger bubbles during the pour, and so it’s no surprise that the head fades to a thin rim soon thereafter. And so mercifully, this ends my German pale lager tasting session. Things could be worse, it could be an American macro pale lager sesson! Perish the thought!

Pour is cloudy gold. Nose and taste is very syrupy and spiced almost like a wheat. Rated 7/1/02

16oz swing top bottle 5/00-Pours a golden body with a small white head. Aroma of grains and slight malt. Taste of the same with some grass taste. This light bodied brew is just another example for the style.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 BlackDonald (1127) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 1, 2008
Its a lager, what else can I say. Plain and simple, with a bready maltiness, light and somewhat thin body. It is balanced if you can call it that, nothing about it is overly bad, but not that great either.

For a beer that’s made Germany its got a very thin body, aroma is biscuits and bread like. The taste is of malts, fruits and bread. for the casual get together
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 nick76 (3582) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 16, 2007
The aroma is is sweet with sugar, malt, and raisins. The appearance is dark gold with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is way too thin. This one gets points for being a unique lager but it’s still not a good beer.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 henry3r (586) - Wichita, Kansas, USA - NOV 16, 2006
The 16 ounce bottle poured a slightly hazy light amber beverage with a small fizzy white head that was mostly diminishing and left little or no lacing on the glass. The aroma was interesting, not what I expected from a lager. It had notes of dried dark fruits like prunes and raisins with almost no detectable malt character. The body was medium-light with slightly flat carbonation and a watery texture. The flavor started off semi-sweet with a spicy back-flavor. The finish was a little shorter than I would have liked but there was a light alcohol warmth to the end. My impression was that this beer may not have been fresh. I’ll need to re-rate this at a later time.

Interesting fruity nose, with a light bit of fresh flowers. Malt body is quite tasty, fruity with a bit of caramel. Very unique and fresh tasting.

Pours a hazy, dirty straw color with a respectable enough head. The aroma is a light fresh bread, a grassy/floral bitterness, and, oddly enough, a touch of chocolate. The flavor’s a dull, sweet malt with a touch of fruit and little of any hopping. Drinkable enough, but this one was enough for me.

Light hay color with thin white head. Nose is a vanilla. Taste is a vanilla peach with light chocolate with slight slivers of sweetness trailing at the back of the palate. Very dry and flat but great as far as lagers go.
