Dark amber in colour with an off white head. Aroma of smoked meat, sausage and cheese. The flavour had a light woody smokiness, some meat, malt, slightly sweet. Medium body. Finishes a bit thin with a mild bitterness. Nice beer. Thanks piscator34.

Rich chestnut w/ tight, light beige head. Light smoke aroma--could be more forceful. Medium bodied--slightly cloying. Moderately smoky/peatish flavour w/ a subtle malt background (molasses, caramel) & burnt hop finish.

Swing top bottle. Deep brown in color with a nice thick tan head. Smokey, peat aroma. Caramel roasty notes. Malty peaty flavor. Medium bodied. Smooth. Finish is smokey. Drinkable. Nice.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2005 Pours a brownish amber color with a short-lived white head. Has a mild smoked ham/bacon aroma. This has a smooth, mild-bodied mouthfeel with a smoked-up caramel malt taste. Dry finish with a lingering smoked ham finish. Not as "meaty" as other rauchs that I’ve had, but pretty tasty and satisfying.

500 ml flip-top bottle that practically exploded when I flipped the top. Lots of gushing all over me, my sofa, and my floor. Whatever... I’m selling the sofa anyway. Dark brown appearance with a lot of dark brown particles suspended throughout. Creamy tan head. The aroma is quite smokey with lots of beechwood character, heavy toffee and dark caramel. Some caramelized wortiness. Flavour is similar to the aroma with lots of sweet smoke, sweet caramel and toffee. The palate is a bit thinner than all of the rich smell/flavour would suggest. Smoke recedes behind a soft herbal/caramel finish. The flavour seems to underdeliver on what the aroma promises, but I wouldn’t say no to another one.

Firm, lightly smokey. Quite enjoyable and definitely unique.

Dark amber in color. Very heavy malt/woody nose that seems quite smokey, but these flavors tend to dissipate in the body. Dry, fruity finish.

Chestnut brown with a big head. Has what I would inadequately describe as a salami aroma, which is actually a good thing. Taste is also dominated by the smokiness, but conversely is not too strong. Finish is absolutely not bitter but is a little weak.

Clear copper body with medium beige head. Aroma is heavily smoked meat/cheese. Taste is very smoked (pork), slightly sweet, some caramel. Light-medium body that doesn't support the strong smoke as much as I'd like.

first of all - it’s really hard to read the name on the label!! No head. spritzy-thin-smokey malt taste. smokey-sweet taste is with me still - 20 minutes after finishing. Didn’t realize this would be a smoked beer (again, the label is a bit dificult for me) - but I probably wouldn’t have bought it if I knew it was smoked. I like this a lot better than the other smoked beer i’ve had thus far. Very nice, i’m craving another one - and not a bad price at $3.
