Poured clear brown with a small creamy off white head. Moderated aroma and flavor with some roasted malt, toasted caramel, sourish yeast. I expected more...

[bottle--thanks cgreb!] Sweet brown sugar and bread crust aroma that is not very strong and has some faint banana. Clear dark brown under wispy white. Bitter bread crust flavour with again, a faint banana note. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter finish.

Solid brown colour with medium/tall head. Nose: Salted popcorn, pumpernickel bread, flat malt. Taste: Soft and bready to start. Coca-cola in the middle with some sweet malt and the slightest hint of coffee. Finish is creamy with a touch of bitter. Palate is quite slick. I expected nuts in here somewhere simply because of the colour.

50cl dark brown bottle, as shown. Pours a nutty brown (NOT a golden brown!) with a big, soapy light beige head with good retention and generous lacing. Aroma is surprisingly yeasty, with a note of grapes - the overall effect is that of sour rye bread. More like the smell of pilsener, come to think of it. Medium carbonation, light to medium-bodied - again, closer to a blonde than to a schwarzbier, even! Earthy, slightly watery mouth feel. Taste is surprisingly light for a dark beer - if I closed my eyes, I would swear I wasn’t tasting a schwarzbier at all! Light roasted malts, some citrusy elements - an overall sourness, with a weakly bitter finish. Hardly any after taste, except some metal maybe. Those who are into stouts, or porters, or even schwarzbiers, will be gravely disappointed by this brew. A lagerish wimp that masks as a dunkel - if you compare it to Köstritzer Schwarzbier, or even Krusovice, it comes across as half-baked and undernourished. Not a good beer.
