Quack-Duck (1978), Bodensee, Germany Oct 8, 2008 While shopping today I stumbled across this year’s first winter beer. It is the 8th of October, we have 22°C outside and the sun is shining - Good heavens, is it already winter? Anyway, the beer looks god, dark brown colour with a mlarge and creamy beige head. Malty nose. Full-bodied, pleasantly malty with lots of flavours going on: roasted malt, caramel and dried fruit. Balanced of with a decent amount of aromatic and bitter hops. Much better than expected, I actually liked this, although it is too early in the year. Hopefully there won’t be any Easter specials in December...
HermanW (515), Coevorden, Netherlands Nov 27, 2008 Beugelfles 0,5 l. Gezien de andere testers vond ik het tegenvallen. SHIG (1670), Oberoffligen, Germany Jun 29, 2008 Bottle Swing-top: Poured a dark black brown with a reddish haze, the head is beige color. The aroma is a sweet malt but very light. Taste is burnt malt very overwhelming, the tongue tingles a bit. kappldav123 (1174), Markkleeberg, Germany Jun 3, 2008 The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Tastes strong and malty, a little bit too constant, finish somehow boring. An average beer! oldrtybastrd (1793), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA May 11, 2008 Pours a deep dark brown. Aromas of roasted malts, smoke, and hints of fruit. Flavors of the roasted malts, some fruit, with a coffee aftertaste.
