3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DruncanVeasey (5136) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - NOV 1, 2010
Managed to catch most of the beer in a glass thanks to reading previous raters’ comments- this one exploded just the same. Settles into a hazing yellow-amber with a slim, creamy head. Pleasant, lemony aroma with hints of horse, grassy hop, pine, lemongrass-like spice and suggestion of actual lime or lemon juice, like a Berliner weisse. Sharp, spicy flavour - coriander and maybe ginger, with a more unusual chick pea-squeezed-with lime and lightly coniferous, pine needle character taking over. Lime juice and crackers aftertaste. Unusual, likeable brew with good spucey, grassy hops and that dash of horse.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 2, 2009
(Bottled) Hazy yellow-golden with a huge, gushing head (wonder what’s the matter with Alvinne nowadays). Honey-fruity, quite pleasant aroma with a touch of grassy hops. Familiar, yeasty Alvinne house flavor with pale, honeyish and fruity maltiness, and a hint of acidity. Light to medium body, low carbonation (after gushing). Quite good for the ABV, but they should learn to control the carbonation.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ungstrup (23917) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 2, 2009
Bottled. Overcarbonated when opened A hazy light golden beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of spices - especially coriander and orange peal on a malty back ground. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of coriander, and the body is thin.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Papsoe (22946) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 28, 2009
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of joergen/MiP/yespr. Slightly hazy pale golden with a tall and lively white head. Astringent, leathery Brett aroma. Medium body, dry fruit and yeast accents with astringent and dry Brett aagain. An extreme gusher. 200309
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Maria (8571) - Thisted, DENMARK - APR 11, 2009
It is hazy, light golden with a huge head, and the foam keeps growing out of the bottle for a very long time. The aroma has notes of yeast with hints of sewer, light fruit and malt. The mouthfeel is very fizzy, rather annoying. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of yeast, dry citrus, other fruits and malt. The finish is dry and slightly bitter with notes of yeast. IMO a bit out of balance.
