Stubby bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 9% Very dark orange colour on the body, with a small froathy off-white head, with low retention, leaving minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, funk, fruity notes, grapes, cork. Taste is quite bitter from the start, although some sweet malts can be found too, along with yeast and some peaches. Well hidden alcohol, in fact, I doubt this is 9% alcohol as it doesn’t seem to have the kick. Medium thin body, abit low on the carbonation. Overall okay belgian ale.

Bitter and hoppy version of a Belgian amber beer. Quite nice, but remains a bit flat.

Pours an orange to copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is yeast, flowery and hoppy. Taste is sweet, then grassy hop followed by alcohol. The aftertaste is also grassy and full of alcohol, then a little citrus. OK beer.

Ambrée voilée, effervescence légère, col blanc moyen. Plutôt maltée en entrée, elle dévoile son amertume petit à petit, la ensuite se prolonger un certain temps avec un petit goût végétal de derrière les fagots.

33cl Bottle at ’De Bierboom’, Brugge on 17 Dec 2012. Hazy golden body with a good, full head of off-white of deep foam. Yeasty nose with a caramel hint, there was also a tart, almost sour aroma from the brew. The taste was a mixed bag as well: sweet and sour feel throughout, with a semi-sweet maltiness just about hiding the other flavours. Solid if not special.

out of all the native Belgian Ales that I’ve had, while not my favorite, is still very good. It does have a nice bold fruity taste upfront like many Belgians, and delivers on the palate. It is a little weak on the carbonation, in my opinion, but I can understand others that would think differently. I would still recommend this beer to anyone wanting to try a Belgian, but it’s not 6-pack worthy.
