Swing top bottle. Slight malt and chocolate aroma. Malty with just a touch of smoke and a hint of chocolate. Rather thin. Tasty Dunkel, could you more malt character and body to be a really great one. Many thanks to Dortmunder for this bottle.

Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUL 6, 2011
Schwacher Antrunk, getreidig, minimal malzig. Der Mittelteil ist leider pures Wasser, dicker Punktabzug! Erst im Nachgeschmack hat man so etwas wie Bier, säuerlich-bitter mit malzigem Beiton. Sehr schlechtes Bier! Test vom 15.5.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,4,5,4,5,4 - 4,50

Bottle. [rating #1600]
Pours a clear red amber with a small fizzy beige head that quickly becomes a thin film. Aroma has malt, bread a bit of raisins. Low carbonation. Flavour is sweet, slightly smoky and with a good roasted edge and a great deal of peppery hops at the back. A touch of metallic hits me (sadly), but still an okay brew.

pivnizub (7225) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - OCT 16, 2005
Bottle: Amber to ruby coloured, quickly diminishing off-white head; sweetish malty nose, a bit fruity (raisins) and vinous plus a touch of roasted malts from far behind, too; "smoky"-malty taste; dry, mild and bitter finish; lacks some bitterness, not so well balanced; really not very impressive......

(swing top bottle) Hazy ruby colour with a small sized creamy off-white head. Light toasty malty nose with milk chocolate and a sour fruity touch. Rather thin taste of toasted malts and again these fruity aspects, which are not appropriate to the style. Thin and short malty finish.

dortmunder (961) - Herdecke, GERMANY - SEP 9, 2004
Roast-malty aroma. Some hints of liquorice in the taste. Otherwise malty sweet, which makes the beer seem more alcoholic than its ABV suggests. Some roastiness in the malt.

jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - AUG 2, 2002
Caramel, prune and hint of chocolat aroma. Roby colour, light brown head, fair lace. Light sweet, chocolat flavor and little roasted. Long lasting finish with the chocolat and coffee flavors getting stronger.
