2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2009 A hard class for beer. A good beer not the best here but still a good one. I think if you come here give this one to your wife and test the other beers.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
1 liter flip-top bottle taked away, tasted at home. Red-copper body with a light-tan creamy head. Sourish yeastly aroma with some caramel and a light roasted fruity(lichi) perfume. Sourish taste with a light acidic mouthfeel of citruses, sweet caramel malt, light roasted taste, some chocolate and.. Minimal hop. Not the best of the brewey, but drinkable. i don’t know why this acidic taste is in the beer...Attack of the acetobacter?

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap at Altstadhof Brewpub, Nurnberg. Reddy brown with white head. A malty sweet beer with sweet caramel flavours throughout, very toffeeish and tinny. I did get some kiwi fruit in the close to add a little interest. Not great.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2008 Dark red colored with cloudy appearance. Little yellow head. Sweet and caramelly aroma with same slight hoppy yeasty note. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor also starts with caramel and slight chocolate even. Aftertaste turns to dry with still some chocolate. Bland aroma, good flavor.

1.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
1L bottle with ceramic cork. Hand carried to Calgary. Very big fluffy off-white head on slightly cloudy red-orange beer. Intriguing aroma, not beer-like but...reminds me of kitchen smells. Creamy body and neutral start turn to sour vinegar. Something wrong with this beer. Hard to believe anyone would be happy with this on tap.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewpub 3/11/07. Amber with a moderate white head. Malty aroma with some red fruit and orange hops. Flavour was malty with a dry finish. Good, but nothing like as good as the Schwarzbier.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Amber color, small off-white head. Barley and lemony hops in the nose. Earthy, woody-grassy hoppy flavor. Notes of mould. Leafy hoppyness in the aftertaste. A bit off-balanced and not my favourite among Altstadthof’s beers.
