Draught (Alus Arsenals, Riga)
6 Sweet, wheaty, and bready.
5 Very dark red, almost black. Hazy, tighty beige head. Viscous - the small bubbles rise slowly.
7 Rich bready taste, definitely wheaty, but a full rich toasty roast too.
4 Very soft palate, and gentle crisp carbonation. Smooth and succulent.
14 Beautifully balanced and flavoursome beer. Very sessionable. World class - could take on some of the better German or Czech dunkels head to head, and not come off looking bad at all.

On keg at the Alus Arsenals beer restaurant in Riga. One of the better Latvian beers I’ve tried. Pours a cloudy reddish hazel colour with a fair beige head. Belgian type aroma, a little tart with coffee, caramel and chocolate. Flavour tart again with caramel, coffee and candy sugar notes and a tart lemon linger. A little foamy mouth-feel with mild carbonation and CO2 prickle. A little thin.
