Bottle at Crooked Stave with friends, courtesy of Bill. Thanks!! Pour is deep brown with a small tan head and decent lacing. Tangy, roasty, dark fruity, somewhat grapey, roast, and spicy aroma. Taste is roast, spice, somewhat medicinal, cherries, grapey, tangy, woody, and light alcohol. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Pretty interesting.

Lots of oak in here and not a whole lot else. Pours dark brown with ok head and lacing. Some roast. Overbarrelled, overpriced. Hype hype hype. Tap at Churchkey.

Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Very dark hazy copper pour with a lasting tuff of beige foam. Sweet dark rotted apples. Playful dark malts. Syrupy brown fruit. Prunes. Figs. Pecans. Molasses. Dark chocolate caramels. Bing cherry cordials. Sparks of smoke and sour. Flavors are complex but run a bit thin (could be an old keg). Quite interesting.

Keg @ Holy Grale. Hazy reddish amber with a small head. The nose is very fruit. Blackberry, dark tangy fruit compote. The taste is pretty tangy. More blackberry, strawberry preserve. Some citrus. A bit of chocolate. Leaf pile. Medium body, soft carb. Not bad.

Bottle, from tderoeck, many thanks! Rather watery beer. Notes of calvados and port, fruity with sour hints. Not bad, but this is maybe too old.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2014 Really heady pour from a keg (might have been the end of the keg). Complex sweet smell. There?s a light but oddly un-carbonated mouth feel. Tan head and dark color with a reddish tint in light. The taste us malty and rich. The aftertaste has a hint of citrus with the tiniest amount of bitterness.

Taste: bit sourish start, tart apples, bit of alcohol, then chocolate flavours. sweet, mocha notes, little sourish. Aftertaste: little bitter, coffee, mocha, pretty tart, some alcohol, bitter tannins.
