Bottle 750ml. @ home.

Clear dark brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, wood, oak, licorice, alcohol - calcados. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, light to moderate acidic and moderate bitter with a long duration, dried fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100627]

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of alcohol and sweet malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of a boring malt blend and caramel as well as lighter notes of berries, leading to a dry finish where a note of vegetables appears.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours a very dark brown with a reddish hue and a small off-white head. The nose has some wood and LOADS of mould. Medium body, low carbonation, wood and berries with a very fusty edge. Dry and slightly tart finish. 210810

75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma is fruity, apple, citrusy and dark roasted malty. Smooth malty flavoured. Subdued fruity apple note. Dark malty and roasted breadish. Smooth subdued apple fruity finish with a nice roasted breadish base.

Bottled (from bierkompass.de). Quite much pitch black colour with small bubbly brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some yeast, mild smoked wet wood, some barrelnotes as well as some grapes. Flavour is mildly toasted notes, some liquorice, alcohol and some wooden barrel. Very interesting tobaccoish smoked wet wooden aftertaste.

Bottle at PreZBF 2010. Hazy dark brown coloured with a small beige head. Fruity aroma of caramel, dried fruits, red wine and oak. Fruity flavour of caramel, dried fruits, red wine, oak and alcohol. Warming alcoholic finish.

The color is very dark, almost black; the bottle starts gushing slowly, but in the glass there is only a small-sized head, a thin cfreamy layer of which is persistent. Mild aroma, some roasted malts, light smoke, and light vinous character. Good body strength; strong chocolate flavor, and roasted malts, dry, with some Belgian character; there is an impression of ashes and a quite strong liquorice presence; I can’t really feel the Calvados. The alcohol content is well managed, and the bitterness level is correct.
Solid brew, but unimpressive, unexciting.

Cloudy deep amber with a tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel, prunes and calvados. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, caramel, prunes, plums, wood and a few hints of lacto. Finished sourish and dry.

(750ml bottle) Pours a burgundy body with a medium beige head. Aroma of raisins, plum, caramel, and oak. Flavor of plum, raisins, oak, roasted malt, some lacto, and chocolate with a dry finish.

Dark opaque brown color, small brown head. Aroma of oak, vanilla, cognac/calvados, sourness and some earthy notes. Medium to full bodied. This is not as sour as many other Alvinne BA’s, but has some earthy sour notes. Warming alcohol. Oak from barrel and some vanilla in the flavor. Aftertaste has also a bit of licorice. Decent, Calvados cask sweetness cuts wild yeast tartness nicely.
