COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

A clear reddish mahoganny brown ale with a super thick big bubbled dark mocha head. In aroma, smooth herbaceous nutty malt, with caramel, dark fruits, raisins, and light licorice. In mouth, a smooth nutty burned caramel with light curacao, licorice and some signs of oxidation...still in good shape. Bieropholie imports.

(33cl bottle) Pours a clear amber-brown body with a spare off-white head. Aroma of grain, caramel, raisins, watered down whiskey, dates, and old books. Flavor of raisins, plum, yeast, and light chocolate.

33cl Bottle at Delirium. Bottle had visible dust on it giving away how long it had been sitting on their shelf. Aroma is fairly weak but mostly caramel sweetness and doughy yeast. Taste is similar - fairly sweet with caramel and some subtle spice on top of a mild but noticeable Belgian yeast. Not much skunkiness despite its obvious age, but rather weak flavors. Palate is medium-bodied, thin texture, very little carbonation, and a mild sweet finish. Weak for a Belgian ale but drinkable.

Bottle 2003. Brown coloured beer with a medium head that colapse pretty soon to a 1cm lace. Smell is sweet, earthy, overripe fruits. Taste is the same, but with a light sourness comes trough, probably overaged.

Very pleasant for its style, this brown coloured Belgian was sweetish and very drinkable. Malty and slightly yeasty aroma.

Bottle from Bier Temple in Brussels. Pours hazy dark amber with a foamy clingy light beige head. Aroma is somewhat treacle. Medium body with mild foamy carbonation. Flavor is caramel with a touch of treacle, and something like a citrus bitter. A sort of sweet/bitter mix. Pretty good drink.

Pours a murky brown color with a medium beige head. Very nice aroma of yeast, molasses, raisins and dates. Good flavor of raisins, dates, molasses and yeast. Hmm, this is quite special and interesting.

Bottle, 33cl. It’s a clear, copper-colored beer with a small, creamy, off-white head sitting on top. Bready, sweet, roasted nose, feeling quite sugary. Sweet, slightly bready flavor with caramel and sugar. Full-bodied and sweet on the palate. The finish has a nice hoppy bitterness to balance it. A decent beer, feeling sort of boring. Still it’s a quite good one. 090828

In short: A basic dirty yeasty fruity Belgian brown ale. Just ok.
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed when over 1 year of age, 8 months before expieration date
The look: Cloudy golden brown body topped by a small beige head
In long: Typical fruity yeasty nose just like the myriad of other low abv yeasty Belgian dark ale. Taste is toasted grainy malts, crusty bread, caramel, earth, berries, grapes, herbal hops, herbal spiciness. Lively carbonation. Leaves a sensation of dirt in the mouth. A light sour-ish grape sourness bothered me a bit. Nothing bad, but overall this is pretty average stuff. So average in fact that if it was twice as good it would be exactly the best beer possible.
