Bouteille: Hazy, deep amber coloured, medium-sized off-white head; peated malt (not really smoked?), toasted malt, some fruits and a certain yeasty acidity in the nose; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, again with a delicate acidity, medium bodied; dryish and a bit tart yeasty and roasty finish. O.K., but more smoke please…

Smoked beer with the special Alvinne twist. Rauchmalt, combined with a spicey herbal yeast. Very nice.

Very dark beer with a beige head. Very lively. Slightly gushing. Aroma of smoked bacon and dark malts. Mild fruitiness in the nose as well. The smokiness is more outspoken in the taste. Smoked bacon again, nice soft bitterness at the end as well. Burned malts and caramel present. Very good beer!

Very dark burgundy, nearly black or at the least very dark brown, a great deal of lasting brown foam, almost looks like a stout. One you need to pour carefully because of the massive foam generation. The nose is smoked (no surprise here considering the name), almost ash with a sour undercurrent, very much in line with expectations. The taste is pretty consistent, strongly smoked with a stoutish sour and some additional bitterness. Absolutely to my liking, I would certainly recommend this to fans of smoky beers!

On tap at Borefts I. Clear dark red - brown beer. Minerally nose. Crisp light palate. Tangy malty toffee with a trace of bubblegum. None of it sweet! The smoke is very light. A contrasting bitter aftertaste.

Botella de 330ml. Copa Globo. Saboreada en may´12. Color marrón oscuro. Capa beige, tupida y persistente. 330ml bottle. Snifter glass. Enjoyed on may´12. Dark brown color. Beige, lasting, close head. Subtle Bamberg malt aromas & floral notes. Spicy malt upfront rounded by slightly bitterness with vinous touch. Medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Woody & fruity aftertaste. Refreshing with pleasant drinkability.

On tap at The Brick Store Pub, Decatur. Went down nicely on a chilly early March afternoon. Deep translucent amber pour with a potent, frothy head. Nose of moderate smoke and char with hints of citrus, caramel malts, and sharp yeasty easters. Mouthfeel a bit underdone, could be fuller. Some dark fruits in the taste, where the smoke comes on just a bit more than in the nose. Not an especially memorable beer but pleasant under the right circumstances.

Bottle - 330ml. Dark brown body with a decent beige foamy head. Malty/hoppy taste with plummy and brown sugar hints. Taste carries some woody notes. Ends with a good bitter/grainy finish. Not bad.
