4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 sebletitje (5416) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JUL 15, 2012
Thanks Glenn for the shares. Holy hell, found the holy grain of beer. A sipper for sure, but dman this is as close of wine being used to brinkg beer to a whole new level. Land van Mortagne was already enormous, but this takes it to a new direction.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 JorisPPattyn (7308) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 7, 2012
Short-lived cream-pink coloured head over deep brown beer with a foxy sheen. Very fruity nose, part cherry, part sugared preserved cherries, roses-flowery. Quite vinous in character, as sweet dessert wine, if a red one. Still sweet, but with a bitterish woody streak. Fruity, with a little sourish edge, which brings it to a superb balance. Again red wine like, if way less sweet than suggested by the nose; Retronasal something like old carpets, but much nicer than that sounds. Very slick, medium to well-bodied, serious alcoholwarming. Aftertaste has again a sweet cherry & roseflavour. Great balance. Arguably the most complex beer Alvinne ever succeeded.

500ml Bottle from Bierkulturfest in Köln-Ehrenfeld. Appearance is cloudy, soft, brown color with light, off-white head. Aroma is caramel, oak, and plums. Taste is sweet, dark fruits, plums, raisins, some oakiness, molasses and a tinge of resin hops. Even at 14% alcohol is subdued. Palate is full-bodied, soft but weak carbonation, thick and smooth texture, full, long finish.

Bottle: Murky brown, small off-white head, solid sweet fruity (plums) and molassy nose with a tinge of alcohol; sweet flavour with a discredt bitterness, full bodied, what else; sweet plummy finish, malt and molasses, too plus a tinge of alcohol. The perfect light thirst-quencher…
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 OleR (4247) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 20, 2012
0,5 L bottle. An unclear deep reddish brown body, under a ring of sand-colored bubbles. Sweet dark caramel and dark dried fruits to the nose. Some barrel notes and faint alcohol too. More than medium full. Thick and juicy in the mouth. Rich malt flavor. Sweet, with burnt caramel and jammy dark fruits. Distinct barrel notes, and a good amount of bittering hops in the backbone. Warming, rich bitter-sweet aftertaste. A balanced, tasty, and dangerously easy drinkable Quad.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 esp0r (1258) - NORWAY - JUN 13, 2012
Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours dark dark brown, tanned head that falls down to a nice thin layer. Nice laces on glass as well. Smells of caramel, oak, some wine aromas, yeast esters and malts. I find alot of barrel aging in the aroma. Very malty, heavy sweet, raisins and alcohol strikes, then some oak and wine. Nice medium bitter finish, some resins, oak and hops. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Totally a nice beer, i find it to suit the barrel aging quite nice.

On draft @ HaandBryggeriet Beer festival 2012. Murky brown body with a small beige head. Nice aroma of malt and chocolate with some acidity. Flavor has a fine balance between sweetness and acidity, quite sweet, but does not feel sticky in the mount. Taste of dark malt, caramel, chocolate, a hint of vinegar and warming alcohol, more alcohol in the aftertaste. Full body. This is a really tasty and complex brew.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Swaroga (790) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JUN 2, 2012
50cl bottle. The color is dark brown, can’t see through, with very small tanned head. Nose : very sweet smell of tart (tiramisu like), there are some notes of dried plums and raisins. Toffee and dough. Wooden background. Sip : Medium body with oily feeling. Almost no carbonation. Deep sweet toffee taste mixed with alcohol. The alcohol is warming and balanced into a tasty overall flavor. The ending is quite bitter coffee like with smoked wood. Interesting beer. Careful about the alcohol because 50cl of 14% can be surprising.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 larsga (5325) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 2, 2012
Smallish beige head. Hazy deep brownish red body. Fruity vinous
sugary aroma with wooden notes. Dry-sweet wooden fruity taste
with funky caramelly notes. Fullish body. Hot, rounded, smooth
mouthfeel. Dry-sweet roasty wild berry and fruit aftertaste with
peppery vinous wooden funky notes. Traces of wine grapes, earth,
spice and menthol. Complex, interesting, and unusual. Subtle, and
full of flavours. Wish they’d sold it in 0.25l bottles
though. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoply, Vika, Oslo.)
