Opaque dark brown beer with a good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and airy. Little dry. Mild minerals. Touch of aniseed but otherwise the alcohol is well hidden. Light toffee malt cream. Dried fruits. Mild spice and a touch of sherry. Finishes crisp. Interesting beer, was expecting heavy and sweet but this is light and crisp!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap sample @ Haand Festival 2013. Deep nut brown hazy body, medium creamy off-white head. Aroma is port wine, raisins, caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, hints of rum and toffee. Very nice. Taste is sweet caramel, raisins, wood, vanilla, honey, hints of oak and port wine. Creamy mouthfeel, full body and medium carbonation. Warming alcohol, yet hidden in taste despite the high ABV. Very nice, but a bit too sweet to reach the top rungs of the ladder.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle thanks to Taylor at MFF. Aroma was prunes, port, chocolate and oak. Poured deep purple brown with little carbonation or head. Taste was ruby port, prunes, molasses and vinegary oak. Very dark for all the vinegar notes. This is a dependable kind of beer to come from Alvinne. Gotta be in the mood.
