Smallish beige head. Hazy deep brownish red body. Fruity vinous sugary aroma with wooden notes. Dry-sweet wooden fruity taste with funky caramelly notes. Fullish body. Hot, rounded, smooth mouthfeel. Dry-sweet roasty wild berry and fruit aftertaste with peppery vinous wooden funky notes. Traces of wine grapes, earth, spice and menthol. Complex, interesting, and unusual. Subtle, and full of flavours. Wish they’d sold it in 0.25l bottles though. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoply, Vika, Oslo.)

50cl bottle pours an oily, deep brown with some creamy, off white head. Nose has cherry, a little pomegranate vinaigrette, some dried cherry, a little cooked greens. Flavor has caramel, candy sugar, raisin, mild acid, a little smoke, slightly medicinal. Candy sweet finish.

Bottle @ ZBF 2012 // dark brown going to black with close ton of head // smell is quite sweet & malt heavy, caramel, dark fruits, I am getting really gravy on this (vleesjus) // taste is gravy (definitely there in an amazing way), sweet, chocolate, thick malts, caramel, dark fruits, hints of liquorish & syrup, wood,… warming sure but boozy no // slick, substantial body, low carb. , definitely a sipper / would have preferred this at home as opposed to a festival but excellent & among best things Alvinne (probably best) has done so far

Dense caramel ice cream and cookie dessert hits on the nostrils with just a whisper of alcohol, certainly less than I would have expected from a 14% brew, in the nose at least. A broad little fruit array is quickly ventured in, earth cherries, marmalade and peaches are all visited every other whiff. The rich and sweet type, halfway between liquid chocolate and port wine and yet with this alcohol level, you would have thought that a fair attenuation had been reached - perhaps, but there’s plenty of complex sugars remaining. While little head formation punctuates the pouring motion, in mouth, the carbonation is initially fairly active, though it slowly diminishes to leave a more liquorous texture after the beer has been sitting around for a few dozen minutes - which is almost inevitable if you drink a bottle by yourself. Raisiny, chocolatey, caramely, very desserty palate. Fair oak character with noticeable tannins, but not to the point where I feel the smooth, silky, currant-like Pomerol character is highlighted very much. That’s something rare enough in beer that I would have enjoyed it to take more room; it is tough for a sweet dark Belgian beer to make an overdose of balancing gracious tannins. An interesting recipe, but not one I’d like to revisit very often considering the price tag and rarity.
