4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 sebletitje (5416) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JUL 15, 2012
Thanks Glenn for the shares. Holy hell, found the holy grain of beer. A sipper for sure, but dman this is as close of wine being used to brinkg beer to a whole new level. Land van Mortagne was already enormous, but this takes it to a new direction.

Bottle @ ZBF 2012 // dark brown going to black with close ton of head // smell is quite sweet & malt heavy, caramel, dark fruits, I am getting really gravy on this (vleesjus) // taste is gravy (definitely there in an amazing way), sweet, chocolate, thick malts, caramel, dark fruits, hints of liquorish & syrup, wood,… warming sure but boozy no // slick, substantial body, low carb. , definitely a sipper / would have preferred this at home as opposed to a festival but excellent & among best things Alvinne (probably best) has done so far
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - JAN 13, 2013
Bottle from Nuetnigenough, Brussels Dark brown color with quite a lot of sediment; creamy head. Some aroma of alcohol, prunes, chocolate; fresh and inviting, delicate. Good body strength, with smooth mouthfeel, also because of the high carbonation; roasted malt flavor and chocolate, rich, with light accents of red wine, and correct bitterness. It combines in a very elegant way te chocolate and the red wine characters. Deep, intense, complex and well blended. Highly interesting.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 JorisPPattyn (7308) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 7, 2012
Short-lived cream-pink coloured head over deep brown beer with a foxy sheen. Very fruity nose, part cherry, part sugared preserved cherries, roses-flowery. Quite vinous in character, as sweet dessert wine, if a red one. Still sweet, but with a bitterish woody streak. Fruity, with a little sourish edge, which brings it to a superb balance. Again red wine like, if way less sweet than suggested by the nose; Retronasal something like old carpets, but much nicer than that sounds. Very slick, medium to well-bodied, serious alcoholwarming. Aftertaste has again a sweet cherry & roseflavour. Great balance. Arguably the most complex beer Alvinne ever succeeded.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Lukaduke (1017) - Portland, Maine, USA - MAY 22, 2013
Pours a rich mahogany color with a foamy khaki grey head that rises up out of the rim. The nose is complex and inviting, dark molasses, soft caramel, plum, vinous fruit and touch of nutty wood. The palate follows with a soft silky smooth mouthfeel that rolls the complex flavors from front to back . Beautiful elegance and focused balance. Damn this is top notch quad !

750 ml bottle from czar at blind tasting. An opaque, orangeish brown with a nice beige head. Aroma is oak and vanilla. Flavor is vanilla, tons of fruits, burnt caramel, tons of oak. Finish is somewhat herbal, roasted. Touch of booze, but in a nice, warming way. Lingering hints of spices (cinnamon, coriander). Average body. Very, very solid offering!

Keg @ Borefts 2012. The pour’s completely still reddish brown. No head, not bubbles. The nose is spple, spiced mulled wine, some cocoa posder and red fruits. Te taste is sweet liquid cotton candy, some spiced fruits, more mulled wine and caramel. Hints of red grape and rich rotting wood (in a good way). Diverse, complex palate. Soft, very drinkable. Wow, what a beer. One of the best of the festival. Complex, rewarding character.

Black colour, very little head. Aroma of roasted malts, red wine, port and chocolate. Rather dry, red wine flavour, astringent, vanilla. Dry, astringent finish. Quite lovely.
Definitely amongst the top beers served at Zythos. Nice one!

On tap at Borefts 2012, Bodegraven. Pours cloudy, red-brown with a faint, bubbly white head. Sugary malt nose with ripe fruits, toffee and bread. Very big sweet flavor, a touch syrupy, with jammy fruits, dates, plums, cake and toffee. Full bodied with soft, chewy carbonation. Lightly warming finish with tons of ripe, candied fruits, jam, figs, plums, cake. Very rich, but not overly cloying in the end. Great stuff.
