Dark brown pour with a tan head. Wonderful oak aromas with dried fruit and brown sugar notes. Flavor is big on the oak but balanced with malt sweetness and wine notes. Abv is well hidden. Awesome beer.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, big thanks to Bill for the pour. Nice hazy dark reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought big notes of dark fruits, sweet grapes, oak, slight earth, spice notes in there, lots of dark caramel, roasted toffee, hints of tannins in there as well. Taste is sweet white grapes, slight oak, bitter earth, spice, nice dark fruit, caramel, toffee sweeten it up towards the end, finishing sweet, slightly boozy, and dessert like. Pretty well crafted.

Wow. Bottle at Jimmy's 43 NYC. Rich, dark, chocolate and malt. Definitely a dessert beer. 15 percent abv not present. Great

Bottled. Wow, 15%?!? I had no idea. Our host served this alongside some banging homemade pecan pie and ice cream, and it was a good match for that. Poured chestnut with minimal head. HUGE oak aroma. Like a sweet caramel cake, a small pour was plenty but plenty tasty, with low carbonation it sticks with you.

Bottle @ Bill’s house. Thanks Bill! Pours a murky reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Spicy yeasty, big bubblegum, apple-banana, light paper, caramel aroma. Grape, apple, chewy yeasty, slightly herbal hoppy, toasty toffee flavor. Fairly tasty but nothing that blows my mind.

bottle pours dark brown with finger of lasting yellow-tan head. Aroma is sweet, with notes of grape, honey, cheesecake, cheese, toasted nuts. Full bodied and very smooth for 15%, although there’s a noticeable burn in the stomach. Flavor is vinuous, with notes of cheese and sweet oak, although overall its really not as sweet as I expected. Pretty interesting, and enjoyable brew.

I just bought this because the word "derp" is in the title - also, alvinne sometimes makes a killer beer - turbid purplish red - nearly still - nose of plum, fig, brown sugar, spices, strong red wine and oak, light oxidation and earthiness - moderate acidity to cut the overall sweetness - mild carbonation, but surprisingly firm in the mouth for the abv - you can tell it’s strong, but the alcohol is very well masked - I would guess 10% at the highest - not boozy at all - starts with the sweetness of plum, treacle - the middle is lightly bitter - there is also a moderate acidity that balances the sweeter elements - the wine and oak come in at this point - finish is earthy, lightly oxidized, with lingering treacle sweetness and balancing spicy oak.and wine tannins - this is quite a nice beer.
