> Highly impressive oud bruin featuring a savory nose and powerful fruit skin palate

[ Tap ][ Max’s BBF ][ 4oz ][ Mini Imperial Pint ][ Free ][ 2/15/14 ]
>> Thanks ajax25g for the share. Flat murky red/ brune pour. Nose is funky barrel, salty, tootsie rolls, chocolate, red wine, savory blend. Taste is very nice: bitter, lactic, long bitter fruit skin- almost fresh peach skin. Very good oud bruin. Oh yeah. No acetic, minimal lime citric bite/margarita mix nonsense. Sharp, fruit leather palate. I like.

<!> good stuff

murky cherry, thin tepid white ring. Almond skin red wine nose, brown sugar and acetic is kicking. Ultra stinging sweet flavor, tons of acid and sugar, heavy plum finish with considerable burn.

Draft at Saison. Poured an almost blackish red with faint brown at edges, no head, looked more like a glass of red wine than a beer. Aroma was a big shot of good balsamic vinegar, with some tart cherry notes. Flavor was balsamic, cherry, stone fruit, and a vanilla finish. Complex and awesome. Really liked this one.

Extremely complex, offee, caramel, funk, slight sour, whiskey, fruits, tobacco, leather, but it is too complex perhaps and not sour enough.

Bottle - 750mL crowned. Neck tag shows "Cuvee Freddy Zymatore Edition 2012 Batch 1" followed by "Barrels Used From: Ransom Spirits Belgian Owl Distillery Bella Vineyards Matured for 12 months". Pours dark brown with a short tan head. Aroma is very sour with wine notes, earthiness, wet wood, dark fruit, sour berries, funky yeast, balsamic vinegar and faint caramel. Taste is balsamic vinegar with sour fruit, unripe berries, wet wood, damp earth, funky yeast notes, wine, grape skins faded caramel and light booze. Body is light-medium and has soft carbonation bubbles along with a dry finish. Slightly acidic mouthfeel. UPDATED: JUL 29, 2013 Draft at Strangelove. Pitch black pour with a minimal head. Pungent dark vegetables with a huge sour funk. Minimal aroma (when cold at least.) Celery hearts. Artichokes. Whiskey notes. Good stuff.

Bottle shared by jessie with a couple brahs. Pours dark black with light head. Notes of sour fruit, oak, grapes, tobacco, light rust, very acidic. Lighter notes of whiskey, wine, black currants and berries. Good but too american tasting and sweet to be considered great in my book.

Draft at Local Option. Pours opaque brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of sweet fruit. taste is slightly vinous, funky, sour, with notes of tannis and chocolate. Finish is quite well balanced. I felt the whiskey was totally muted. It was slightly present in the aspect of a warming alcohol quality to the beer, which was a nice effect, but the taste of whiskey was not really present. Low carbonation. Pretty interesting beer.

5/4/13. 750mL bottle from Grassroots... pretty sure this is the right one. Granted it wasn’t ice cold but this bottle gushed upon opening. Have a glass ready just in case. Dark brown soda pop pour with a big tan head that sizzles away almost instantly. The dark aspects of a sour pop most in the aroma - leather, tobacco, alcohol, etc. - with some whiskey, booziness, and funky sour. More tart in the flavor, hints of grapes and pixie sticks, with more dark whiskey, tobacco, leather, etc. A touch meaty almost. Interesting, tasty, if not a bit weird.
