2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 JorisPPattyn (6710) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 12, 2010
Thin brown head, fast gone over reddish-tinted, near black beer. Very vinous nose, with chocolate; bit salty, like soy sauce, paprika chips. Taste: OW - what’s this? Wood, paprikapowder, salt, stale chips, ketjap sauce, liquorice, and old, oxydated wine. Tannines, but with more bitter than sour. Ends on running cheese as Camembert, and finally mounting acidity. Very slick, oily, not thin; but flat as a pancake. Sorry guys. Either something’s wrong with this bottle, or this is something I profoundly dislike.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 omhper (15956) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 26, 2010
UPDATED: MAY 5, 2010 Bottled at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm (as Cuvée Freddy Bourgogne OA, 8%). Cloudy dark brown, minimal airy head. Vinous, buttery Rodenbach-like lactic nose. Tart and vinous with light spritzy mouthfeel and above medium body. Lactic and cherryish, dominated by welloaked red wine. Fresheningly sour, deepand comples with lots of tannine bitterness. Only slight roastiness remains from the Mano Negra. Feels like a deluxe Rodenbach Grand Cru with more concentrated flavours and a delicious addition of dry oaky red wine. Despite the rich flavuors it stays elegant. I really, really enjoyed this one!
