Bottle shared at Gainsbar - Kortrijk, Belgium. Pours lightly hazy gold with a moderate, creamy white top. Funky nose with notes of fermented citrus fruits, tangerine and sweat. Medium sweet flavor, good and funky, with further tangerine and some light, grassy bitterness. Medium bodied with average to high carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, sweet but clean, with more grassy hops and robust funk. Very good stuff.

Belgium’s best-known female beer writer Sofie Vanrafelghem gathered her lady friends to create this all-female ale, whatever that may mean, at Alvinne. Thick, snow white head, misty golden blonde colour. Aroma of lemon zest, grass, sour cream, grapefruit, pineapple and sherry. Taste begins fruity (apple, peach) with quite strong carbonation, after which a spicy hoppiness sets in only to become stronger in the course of the palate, eventually leading to a long, spicy, citrussy, almost ’American’ finish. Nice one Sofie, and I get the need to include women in the craft beer experience, since their beer consumption (if any) is usually stereotypically associated with overtly sweet fruit beers rather than this kind of IPA-style ales.

First batch thx Sofie for the bottle. Taste more times 2013. Hazy darkgolden to orange color, with a creamy head. Aroma: bit spice, fruits, hops. Medium body. Taste sweet start, some yeast note, malts and good bitterness.

0.33l bottle @ Haandfest 2013. Really big on the head this! Huge, white, lacing and lasting. All this on top of a cloudy yellow golden beer. Not to much going on on the aroma really. Light yeasty, some flour and grains. Hints of both citrus and Belgian yeast. One of the milder ones I’ve smelled from Alvinne. It has a light average carbonation level and the mouthfeel is mid-oily. Some sweetness in the taste, more grains and it’s light floral. Mild all the way really, guess you can call it balanced - I call it a tad boring and mellow. Not sure what to think of this, but not a big favorite. 25.05.2013

33cl bottle I am guessing courtesy of & merci aan tderoeck? Gusher alert, a nice Alvinne touch there. Mildly wild aromas, saison-like, another Alvinne imprint. Tartness of the mixed spontaneous fermentation supposedly surpressed in Alvinne’s regular brews, harmonising very well with the zippy German, grassy BE hops - not too much of hat Cascade showing up but very late retronasally and oddly in the yeast sediment. Very Belgian body with a heavier feel for its 6%, seamy and suffused with little yeasty side notes. Quite grass-hop and yeast bitter, for assertive lady tasters that can handle that I imagine!

Sampled from 0,33 l bottle. A gusher. Bright sun-yellow body. Massive foamy white head. Fruity and light astingent spicy hop notes. Mineral tones. Dry and sharp on the palate, light body. Clean bitterness. Light orangey and grassy hop flavor. Restrained malt body. Sharp, yet refreshing fruity-bitter finish.

On tap at Haand Festival. It’s an orange-yellow beer topped by a small, off-white head leaving lacings. Lightly spiced aroma with yeast, white sugar and fruityness. Quite pleasant but more reminiscent of a regular Belgian style ale than an IPA. The flavor has the same problem, if it can be called a problem, but at least there’s some bitterness. Quite fruity with some white sugar and yeast. Vague spice hints. Too much carbonation, medium bodied and semi-dry. Bitter finish with herbal notes. Well, nothing bad going on here, it’s just a tad boring. 130525

330 ml bottle at home. Pours hazt orangy golden with a creamt and quite rich head. Like it. The nose is quite floral and spicy (some ginger and lemongrass). Medium body with initially some sweetness and a quite bitter finish. Taste is pale malt and yeast. This is quite a pecullar Belgian beer, going against the "average" Belgian IPA (as far as one can say we master that style). Well done. I love it. Those women can brew (in the brewery of some men :-))
