Maria (3963), Thisted, Denmark Aug 12, 2008 Vintage 2003. Warm amber with a huge, nice and creamy head. The mouthfeel is very flat. The aroma has a light sweetness and notes of alcohol, fruit and yeast. The flavour has sweetness, notes of malt, fruit, alcohol, citrus, quite a bit of yeast, and it has a nice bitterness, growing towards the finish. The alcohol is a bit too dominant IMO. BoBoChamp (618), Gent, Belgium Jul 27, 2008 33cl, recently retired beer, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, complex, not balanced, cloudy, good head, nice brew thewolf (3490), Kolding, Denmark May 10, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Tønden, Haslev. [vintage 2003] Deep, muddy orange with a big, frothy off-white head. Fizzes away slowly. Aroma is deep of toffee, oranges, plums, grapes, yeast, citrus. High carbonation, rather creamy. Flavour is sugary sweet with a heavy dose of hoppiness. Pine, citrus and oranges appear again. A bit ill-composed, but still a nice brew. beerbuzzmontreal (2697), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 19, 2008 Bottle sampled at Brugs Bertje. Pleasant aroma of herbal hops, yeast and mild rubber. Cloudy golden pour with a medium white head. Good flavor of herbal hops with yeast, it’s also well attenuated. The body is medium with a creamy texture and medium carbonation. I prefer the "restyled" version of the Extra, but this first version is still a pretty good beer. DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Jan 14, 2008 Bottle labelled ’Alvinne Extra’, ’dryhopping’ and ’7.1%’. Aggressively sweet, hoppy aroma pumped up with spruce, citrus, yeast and vanilla. Pours with an orange haze and collapsing white froth. Only the very brave or curious would dare tip the remaining black clods of detritus remaining in the bottle into their tulip. Flavour harshly alcoholic, burning, smokliy antiseptic and earthy/yeasty in the manner of some of the De Dolle beers. Hopping robustly piney and citrussy, but overwhelmed by TCP/mouthwash/disinfectant notes and alcohol burn. Didn’t do anything for me except give me instant heartburn. Drank about half of it.
