3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Wine & Cheese Place in (near) St. Louis, MO. What a gusher. Took two glasses to absorb it. Pours hazy light amber with a truly humongous light bubbly off-white head. Aromas include a lot of yeast, some citrus, and a little malt. Darn’d if it don’t seem a bit soapy. So what aroma soap, not sure. Medium body with rather smooth carbonation. Flavor is really spicy hop over malt. Rather peppery. Something like grapefruit rind. Slight burn down the gullet. This one is just so out of control. A bit of barnyard seems to be present. An exciting adventure from start to finish. Almost genteel after it settles down for awhile. Good ale. Really.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Citrus and vanilla in the hoparoma. Firm citric, flowery, slightly perfumed flavor, lingering on in the aftertaste. Yeasty. Very tasty, but not very refined.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml bottle (One Pint Pub, Helsinki, Belgian Beer Weeks 2009)
Aerosol air freshener aroma - floral. Lively carbonation. Big hoppy taste, but also very alcoholic. Finish is children’s sweets - sherbet - and alcohol. Too boozy, and the hops stand out as a gimmick.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
33 cl bottle. Slightly hazy bright orange-golden beer with a massive (massive) rocky white head. It took me a solid 15 minutes to pour this guy. Aroma is very inviting though. Rich yeasty spiciness with lots of clove, pepper, and herbal aromas mixing with the fruity/citrusy hop aroma. Bright light mintiness with lots of candyish/fruity esters. It’s not as obviously hoppy as something like Houblon Chouffe, but there is plenty of hop aroma and bitterness to bring it into IPA territory. Zesty and perfumy with a lovely citrus and spice hoppiness that accents the crackery base malts and the rich yeastiness perfectly. Very tasty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(33cl bottle) Hazy, golden colour with a huge blonde foamy head. Yeasty and slightly sweet malty aroma with lemon-fruity and herbal, slightly flowery hoppy notes. Moderately bitter flavour, medium bodied, slightly fizzy carbonation. Malty base with fruity and slightly vinous side effects, combined with a present herbal and slightly floral hop character; almost dry malty, subtle fruity and herbal hoppy finish with a rather harsh bitterness in the aftertaste. Lacks balance but is still pretty likeable and hops orientated, at least by Belgian standards (08.III.09).

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Recently brought back from State Line Liquors. Absolute bomb explosion of foam - it wasn’t moved in days. A third left in bottle of citrus IPA, and the foam not shot out. A lemonbalmy aroma with the fragrant Amarillo, a pleasing bitterness. Wish there was more. Good mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Good, persistent yellowish, fine head; over hazy orange beer, with an olive shine. Mustard seed, greenery, fresh malt, some hops. Extremely good forward C-hoppy taste, backed with just the right amount of cakey malts. Very dry finish, if some fusels. Medium bodied, slick, near chewy. AH! This is one Alvinne’s best tries. Probably the most straightforward Belgian IPA.
