Cloudy brown beer. Softish semi dry palate. Tart sour fruitiness with a little dry spice. Nicely offset by oaky softness (not too much vanilla though). Finishes dry and a little creamy with some alcohol warmth.

75cl bottle. MRT 2010, Lot 330 so probably about 2.5 years old or so. Not bad. Definitely more sour and tart notes instead of the oak. Slightly thin overall. Interesting overall.

brown pour with orange highlights. Aroma of oak, slight sour yeast, a bit of caramel and berry. Tastes malty at first, followed by bacteria qualities: caramel, wood, oak, and light vinegar. Medium bodied. Pretty good and interesting.

9/10/9/8/fl/9

Bottle 33 cl from Willems - Grobbendonk (B). Brown garnet with ochre foam, living crackling. Aromas of malt, wild acidulity, fruity and vinous hints. Taste a little prickling, sourish, nice blend acidulity-malt, average roundness, dominance of fruity acidity, cherry, apple and spices, ginger, coriander. Some keys of chocolate, woody note, leather. Finale on sour-sweet, malt, balsamoc, lactic touch. The accent of Oudenaarde ?

In short: A very tannic beer that tastes like a dry red-wine barrel. Decent sipper.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed approximately 1 year after purchase (so probably 1.5 year old).
The look: Cloudy burgundy body topped by a long-lasting small beige head
In long: A bit of a gusher. Nose is dry red-wine barrel. Taste is also mostly red-wine barrel. The attack is vinous and overall fruity but very quickly the wood takes over. There is so much dry wood in there it is incredible. The me it tasted like an old red-wine barrel that has been drying out for years and then you cut a little pieces from the inside of the barrel and chew on them. You can add to that some sour cherries, some earth, some tobacco. Some acidity in the finish. Carbonation is very active. Supposed to be aged in oak with spices but I didn’t really notice spices per say, although this type of wood dryness can evoke spiciness at times. This is a rather tasty beer and the over-the-top tannic character of the beer really makes it a sipper. It took me over one hour to drink my 750ml. This is a beer that is trying also please the woody red wine lover. It is not the first time that a brewer try to kill two birds with one stone, which leads me to believe that we have a bird overpopulation population problem and a shortage of stones.
