Deep chestnut body with the most beautiful huge whipped cream like light brown head; Very special quite nice nose spicy fresh ginger and a fat syrup sweetness goes very well together; Huge carbonation on a body that is a little to thin and a has a strange harshness; Strangely harsh in medium long finish not huge but to concentrated aromas that makes the spices seems a little unpleasant.

29/I/14 - 33cl bottle from De Zytholoog / Bierloods (Adegem) @ home - BB: V/2010 (2014-131)

Clear dark purple brown beer, no head, no carbon, some irregular beige bubbles while pouring, nothing after that. Aroma: very vinous, balsamic vinegar, lots of vanilla notes, some caramel. MF: soft to no carbon, medium body. Taste: little bitter start, some mocha, vanilla, pretty sour, vinous, earthy flavours, tobacco, bitter hops, wood tannins. Aftertaste: bitter, very vinous, red wine notes (bourgogne), balsamic, red currants, cherries and plums, spices, cinnamon, some dried fruits, pretty bitter and dry ending. Well, by now I’ve learned from the brewer that this beer has not seen any wood, but otherwise I would’ve bet on it. I also learned that normally this is not a sour ale. Guess my bottle was infected, maybe the cap wasn’t sealed, because I heard no hiss when opening the bottle and there was no carbon. If that’s true, it’s even more amazing how interesting and complex this beer has become!

Pitch dark brown body with an off white head. Aroma is spicy and malty, with pineapple and mango. Flavour is interesting, sweet with caramel and spices at the start with an acidic finish.

Fin men lidt speciel.

Bottle (33 cl) from Etre Gourmet. Murky brown, medium creamy beige head. Spicy coke (or swedish "julmust" aroma) with notes of juniper and ginger. Sour and bitter. Probably infected, or perhaps just old (no best before date).
