3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 cbeers21 (693) - Miami, Florida, USA - JAN 2, 2009
Good looking pour with fantastic pillowy and billowing white head. Rather pedestrian aroma doesnt really seem to match the beautiful pour. Hops and light spice are there but are restrained. Nice mouthfeel reveals a hoppy spice taste with a lingering woodsyness. Quite drinkable for sure and overall pretty solid.

Bottle. Pours cloudy golden color, with creamy sticky lacing and head. Clove nose, wheat, banana, dry hops in the finish, some grass. Crisp flavors of dry wheat, hay, dry cereal, tasty spices. Dry, crisp, very drinkable.

Bottle from Bitter Virtue, Southampton, Hampshire, courtesy of my dad, cheers dad consumed 29-12-08. Pours murky brown with a white head. There is a very spicy and yeast nose and this is instantly a very warming beer with a real Christmassy tingle to it. The strength is tucked away quite wellsurfacing only now and again in waves of warmness on the roof of mouth and across the tongue, there are hops and bitterness but the spiciness seems to take care of those quite well. Bottle. Smells like a dusty Belgian beer, fruity, loaded with the perfume of hop resins, floral hoppiness, earthy, wait 115 ibu holy mac. This is one spicy dry earthy beer, i dont remember what Gaspars offering was but this is one hell of hop bomb. Etoh cant stand a chance to the dry dusty bitterness of this offering.

11.2 oz stubby. I think I have had this about a year or so. Hazy old with a massive, rocky, off white head. Dusty, spicy hop nose, yeasty. Flavor is clearly well hopped, a decent dry bitterness. Somewhat floral and dry. An odd fruity flavor is present as it warms a bit. Decent, but not a big winner. Thick, drippy lace.

Hazy golden with a huge frothy head. nice spicy hop, yeasty aroma. Light bodied with prickly carbonation. An earthy yeasty pale malt flavor is lightly sweet at first, then turns dry with a nice hop twang to finish.

From a 330mL Bottle. Somewhat hazy, naval orange skin golden color with a thick layer of fizzy white head. Aromas of herbal hops and apple fruit esters. Soft perfume and alcohol presence noted. Light bodied, moderately heavy carbonation levels with a dry, prickly texture. The flavors are nice and bright, complimenting the dryness and heavy carbonation levels nicely. Flavors of light malt sweetness up front on the palate, followed by some rustic yeast characters - slightly dusty, with hints of apple, pear, and pepper. The hop flavors come through nicely in the finish, enhancing the dryness. The floral and lightly spicy character of the hops works well with the beer. The nose, while pleasant, isn’t very lively. Other than that, this is an absolutely wonderful beer.
