2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Papsoe (22946) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 17, 2007
(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a gigantic and vey lively, off-white head - sort of shaving foam like. Very spicy aroma with some yeast. Full body with fruity accents, loads of diacetyl and a chemical unpleasant and very distinct bitterness. I’m not really fond of this. 150107
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ungstrup (23917) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 16, 2007
Bottled. An unclear orange beer with a huge light orange head - like whipped cream. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and yeast. The flavor is sweet spicy combined with notes of caramel, and malt with a light alcohol burn on the tongue, leading to a dry spicy end.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 iep (230) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 13, 2007
This one exploded all over the place. Seems like Alvinne has problems with bottling lately, some of their bottles aren’t sealed properly which results in (very slight) leakage and Mass Asplosion when cracking caps. Awesome looks, golden/amber/orange/mahogany with a fluffy head. Piney aroma with strong notes of Goldings hop and the typically dusty Alvinne-style maltyness. Dry and bitter, with a good malt backing, well balanced & well done. The IBU amount seems a bit unrealistic - either that, or the crappy bottling screwed up the hoppiness of this particular bottle - because it didn’t scorch the tongue nor burn the nose like a full-on American DIPA. Moderate/light carbonation, substantial mouthfeel. Very tasty, might be even better when fresh & not affected by bad bottling.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 lachesis (758) - St Idesbald, BELGIUM - JAN 6, 2007
Slight hazy orange-amber beer with nice creamy off white-yellowish head. Aroma is complex and interesting hoppy with a warm barley like carracter. It has smooth hints of caramel and nice aroma’s of cereals and nuts. The taste is earthy and dry crispy, with a fruity elegance and a refreshing boost of minty and herby hops. The hints of pineneedles, dried apricots, honey, nuts, Alp flowers and smooth barley are all well in composition. The afthertaste is at first very balm like, it has a nice rondness and the 8% is well integrated in this very tastefull bitter Belgian strong ale. Served straight from the fridge in a Bordeaux Riedle glass.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BartC (528) - Lichtaart, BELGIUM - NOV 24, 2006
Huge head. Almost amber colour. Aroma: hops; taste: hopbitterness all over. The bitterness remains a long time in the mouth. Some people refer to this kind of beer as hop-tea. I just love it.
1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 jerohen (1793) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - NOV 19, 2006
Dutch Ratebeer Gathering. Hazy orange coloured, huge head, lots of carbonation. Very fruity aroma, predominantly grapefruit, which continues in flavour. Develops to be astringently bitter in finish. The bitterness is over the top imho.
